Members Timmmm Posted Saturday at 04:34 PM Members Report Posted Saturday at 04:34 PM I am going to make my wife a two prong mechanics belt. However, the reason why is she’s allergic to most metals pretty severely. The cheap one you see on Weaver and whatnot are nickel. Her worst one. I saw a post on here from 2011 that somebody made these out of brass. Anybody still make two prong mechanics belt hardware from brass? Quote

He ^^^^ has the exact right idea . . . and if you do go with a 2 prong buckle . . . you can make it up to 2 inches wide . . . Best wishes . . . Members Cumberland Highpower Posted 22 hours ago Members Report Posted 22 hours ago (edited) You could make the other type of mechanics belt for her. There's a type that has no buckle, but rather a metal hook hidden on the underside of where the buckle would normally be. It's all "leather" on the exterior. Allot of those qualify as a "2 prong" buckle as well, since many were made with 2 "prongs" on the backside. Edited 22 hours ago by Cumberland Highpower Quote

Thanks to you Cumberland . . . as well as "Good job there, Pardner" I've got an old brass buckle that I've hung on to . . . I knew some day I'd figure a use for it . . . and it'll take some "doing" . . . but I can see a belt in my future that will have a leather cover over the brass buckle . . . It's one of those buckles ya buy to prove you went to that event . . . but 40 years later . . . most folks don't recall the event ever happening . . . and the brass is kind of dirty black ugly anyway.
