There are people working to develop add-ons to integrate Twitter with IPB, but the ones I've come across are still pretty unstable. However, this version of IPB does have built-in integration with Facebook:

IP.Board will now support a basic implementation of Facebook Connect as an option for logging into IP.Board and associating their account with the same login as their Facebook account. This feature will be off by default and can be optionally enabled by the administrator.

I wouldn't be surprised to see future updates to add the same kind of functionality with Twitter.

Russ, with the way the site is expanding, and some of the upcoming features I've heard whispers about (like videos) there was simply no choice but to upgrade. At some point the old version of the site would have become obsolete. One of the major factors is the advertisers here. It takes money to run the site, and while AFAIK no one gets a salary, there's still bills to pay. The ads pay for things like bandwidth, server lease, program license fees, etc. In the past, member contributions were able to offset some of the costs, but not all.

So here we are with the new version.

Yes, there's bugs in the system right now, and I'm absolutely positive that they're being addressed. Remember, all the members and even the moderators (*gasp*) have families, yards to mow, church to attend, homes to clean, etc., as well as donate their time to this website/forum. This isn't half as bad as the Big Crash was, and this was planned. Now there's just a few wrinkles to iron out. It'll get better, we just need to give the crew a little time to work on it.

One of the things I personally liked with the old style was a non-white background. For my eyes, it was easier to read the screen with the leather shaded background than it is a bright one.

Plus, I've grown accustomed to knowing where everything was (control wise). Well, time to learn the new way!

You guys (& ladies) do your thing as long as I can reach this place and continue to learn. Any change will take time to get it straighten out, so we have to show some patience. I like the RSS option personally since I have that going on my desktop for news. On a side note, I was on late last night and it freaked me out when I saw no forum and a forbidden notice when I tried to logged on. I am glad we are up! Johanna and crew, from me, thanks.

Greetings from Central Texas!

Well this will take some getting use too lol.

Just wanted to add a couple of things I saw that Im not sure if they are bugs or not.

On FF it seems to work pretty good but the PM's which you allready know about arent there.

On IE8 which I primarily use lots of the post have a long dead space which makes it impossible to scroll down with the mouse wheel like I normally do. It doesnt do it in FF just IE8.

Would you add to list:

-Put "View New Post" link/button on bottom of page like the old one. When you read long post & replies, it's nice to click "view New"

Is there a way to change the color scheme or let the users change their own color scheme? I'm blue color blind (blues and greys look alike to me) and is some areas there appears to be blue on blue, whether it be text or icons, and I have to squint and stick my face a couple of inches from my screen to make out what's there. Basically, if it's not black or white or colors that are anything but blue, I'm having a really hard time making stuff out.

FYI:

Opened LW in all my browsers. Safari, IE, Chrome, Opera, FF. All looked and felt the same. None seemed faster than the others. Good Job on the multibrowser standards.

I did notice that before logging in, the color scheme was a brownish tone in all browsers. After being logged in, it turned to the blue scheme.

Personally, I totally despise alterations and upgrades. I can barely figure out what is going on so everything is made harder and more difucult. In my opinion, more is not better, more is slower, more cumberson and less inviting. The more that can be made to look and run like what we had the better.

I realize in the age of modern computers, without upgrades there would be less for programers to do. I still hate it.

Possibly it will work better later, but the site also runs much slower than it used to.

I do appreciate the work that others are doing, I would just like to see the work go into making things simple and easy, not more and elaborate. Yes, I am frusterated.
