Johanna Report post Posted August 22, 2009 I wanted to warn you now before the board goes offline temporarily and you all get the shakes. We are going to be down for a few hours while we add some new fancy features to serve you better. In the meantime, while the board is down, or anytime you have a free moment, please contact your favorite vendors and urge them to support LW. Ad details are here: http://leatherworker.../adnews/ad.html Call Jerry of artisansew.com, Kevin of Springfield Leather, Peter of Waterhouse Leather, Cobra Steve and Ivan Sampson, the rosewood burnisher guy, and tell them you appreciate their support of leatherworker. They have made the new improvements possible. But we have so many quality vendors who should be advertising here- directly to their target market, our 6500+ members, people like you! Please contact them and tell them how great LW is, and how much you would like to see their ads supporting our efforts to grow and bring education, entertainment and fellowship to all leatherworkers, their current and future customers. We support the leather community, but LW is growing so quickly that we need funding to pay for the expansions. In exchange for backing LW, our advertisers get exposure to the people who will buy, delivered directly to their website from potential customers from all over the world! YOU can help LW by encouraging your favorite suppliers and vendors to support LW, and you can help them to increase their sales and reputations. Sellings advertising during a recession isn't easy, but so far our advertisers have found their investments have paid off. I need your help to convince more of them. rdb Report post Posted August 23, 2009 The new look caught me unaware. What a difference a few hours make! You must have worked your tail off getting this going safely. Congratulations, and I will do as you ask about everyone supporting each other.

CitizenKate Report post Posted August 23, 2009 The forum is up and running, but we're still in the process of restoring the site theme and getting all the custom features working again. Meanwhile, check out the new features... and more to come! Kate
Double U Leather Report post Posted August 23, 2009 Here's a question.......have the previous messages sent in the inbox, or received been vaporized or are they still available? I'm like everyone else. When I opened the forum page, I about fell over. Huge suprise!!! I'm not real good at change, so at first I kinda panicked a little..........LOL. I'm sure I'll get 'er figured out though. I do hope all of the past messages can be restored. Keep up the good work. This place rocks. P.S. Now that we have a new "house" in cyber space, do I have to clean up after myself better?

TimKleffner Report post Posted August 23, 2009 HI JO YOU caught me off gaurd!!! Looks great ... Good Luck to all of us who support LW Happy Tooling Tim
TwinOaks Report post Posted August 23, 2009 I was just about at the point of calling Jo, but I figured I'd wait and see. Quick note: Everything is taking about twice as long to load right now. That may be due to the changes, it may be my end of the pipe, I dunno. Also, the screen keeps jumping around, shifting up or down, apparently at random. Lemme know if I can help out,Mike
D.A. Kabatoff Report post Posted August 23, 2009 (edited) While I can certainly appreciate the fact that some people like change and a fresh, new look, I for one am not one of them. I have enough changes elsewhere in my life that it's been nice to be able to come to a forum and not have to try and figure out something new. I suppose I'll just have to suck it up and figure this stuff out like everyone else, but I sure don't like it (of course, my opinion is likely to change by tomorrow). :wtf: Darc ps. don't know why I put the cow there... MHolzer Report post Posted August 23, 2009 (edited) Is there a place for us to report bugs? For instance, on all the posts, instead of the date and time, it's showing h:i:a which should be the hour, minutes and seconds. And the member info on the side here <=== is showing j-Fy instead the joined date. Edited August 23, 2009 by MHolzer
Regis Report post Posted August 23, 2009 Johanna & gang, Site is looking terrific. Hope you are getting some sleep between fixing all the odds & ends. Looks like I'll have to learn my way around in the new format. Thanks for striving to keep up to date. Regis

And the member info on the side here <=== is showing j-Fy instead the joined date. That was the first thing I noticed when I seen the site this morning, it's the PHP scripting code that displays date & Time but for some reason it's posting the code instead of the date & Time......Johanna you need to check with IP Board on this issue.......other then that the site looks GREAT!!! CitizenKate Report post Posted August 23, 2009 Hi guys, We do apologize for any inconvenience anyone is experiencing. Thanks for all the bug reports (it's fine to report them here, or in the feedback section). We are reviewing them regularly, and obviously there is still some work to do! hidepounder Report post Posted August 23, 2009 (edited) I'm not seeing the old PMs yet either, or the calendar, or the ads...LOL give me a little bit to see what we can sort out yet. Johanna You're definitely making progress fast though...quotes are highlighted today and some other things are working.... Glad I saved my personal notes though.....I'd have to shoot myself if I lost those. I'm not sure "New Content" is sorting correctly....maybe it's my settings....I'll check that out. Also, someone will have to teach me how to read the new "date" system...I only understand dd/mm/yy. I can't figure out what the "status" deal is. My profile page kept telling me I hadn't set my status! What is that....our condition...like happy, sad, hung over? I guess I'm "Verticle".......beats the alternative! Lookin' good Gals!!!!!!! MHolzer Report post Posted August 23, 2009 (edited) I can't figure out what the "status" deal is. It's kind of like Facebook or Twitter. Basically a way to let everyone know what you're up to at any point in time. Johanna or Kate : Is there twitter integration for the statuses? whinewine Report post Posted August 23, 2009 Sorry: I hate this format, I feel it is horrendously cumbersome, I don't like ANYTHING about it. I had to go to a different browser even to get this far- on my previous browser, I couldn't even get in to see any posts- everything locked up! This makes me even not want to make the effort to try to get into the site- it's such a PITA to deal with. Hell, you have to click on a link just to see a picture. I don't like it. why ruin a good thing? :wtf: russ
TwinOaks Report post Posted August 23, 2009 Speed is coming back to 'normal' when loading pages, but there is a definite lag on interactive pages like this reply. Clicking to another area (like when I decided to add to this sentence instead of writing below) caused it to hang up. I got a full white page, no text, graphics, etc. Had to refresh the page with the browser button. Chat doesn't recognize this site's ID yet, I know, work-in-progress. PM's are gone. I know y'all are working on it and we appreciate it.
CitizenKate Report post Posted August 23, 2009 There are people working to develop add-ons to integrate Twitter with IPB, but the ones I've come across are still pretty unstable. However, this version of IPB does have built-in integration with Facebook: IP.Board will now support a basic implementation of Facebook Connect as an option for logging into IP.Board and associating their account with the same login as their Facebook account. This feature will be off by default and can be optionally enabled by the administrator. I wouldn't be surprised to see future updates to add the same kind of functionality with Twitter. TwinOaks Report post Posted August 23, 2009 Russ, with the way the site is expanding, and some of the upcoming features I've heard whispers about (like videos) there was simply no choice but to upgrade. At some point the old version of the site would have become obsolete. One of the major factors is the advertisers here. It takes money to run the site, and while AFAIK no one gets a salary, there's still bills to pay. The ads pay for things like bandwidth, server lease, program license fees, etc. In the past, member contributions were able to offset some of the costs, but not all. So here we are with the new version. Yes, there's bugs in the system right now, and I'm absolutely positive that they're being addressed. Remember, all the members and even the moderators (*gasp*) have families, yards to mow, church to attend, homes to clean, etc., as well as donate their time to this website/forum. This isn't half as bad as the Big Crash was, and this was planned. Now there's just a few wrinkles to iron out. It'll get better, we just need to give the crew a little time to work on it. One of the things I personally liked with the old style was a non-white background. For my eyes, it was easier to read the screen with the leather shaded background than it is a bright one. Plus, I've grown accustomed to knowing where everything was (control wise). Well, time to learn the new way!

King's X Report post Posted August 23, 2009 You guys (& ladies) do your thing as long as I can reach this place and continue to learn. Any change will take time to get it straighten out, so we have to show some patience. I like the RSS option personally since I have that going on my desktop for news. On a side note, I was on late last night and it freaked me out when I saw no forum and a forbidden notice when I tried to logged on. I am glad we are up! Johanna and crew, from me, thanks. MADMAX22 Report post Posted August 23, 2009 Well this will take some getting use too lol. Just wanted to add a couple of things I saw that Im not sure if they are bugs or not. On FF it seems to work pretty good but the PM's which you allready know about arent there. On IE8 which I primarily use lots of the post have a long dead space which makes it impossible to scroll down with the mouse wheel like I normally do. It doesnt do it in FF just IE8.
