johnggrg Report post Posted December 7, 2010 I have seen and read alot on making holsters but have not seen anything on making gun belts or western gun belts and cartidge belts. Does anyone know if there is a tutorial on this somewhere? Or a place on the net to see how this is done? Not wanting to make one but thought it would be nice to know or see how it is done. Anything you can add would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. John

particle Report post Posted December 7, 2010 I have the Stohlman book on belts that Tandy sells, but it doesn't go into the addition of a second layer. I know the basics of how one is made, and need to dig back into it very soon as nearly all of my customers are beginning to request them. Would be great to see a pictorial thread or even better, a video....
TwinOaks Report post Posted December 7, 2010 and need to dig back into it very soon as nearly all of my customers are beginning to request them. Would be great to see a pictorial thread or even better, a video.... !?!?!? No..... EXPERIMENT!!! Really, it isn't all that difficult. I just made a Ranger-ish belt for a friend, and had nothing more to go on than a few pics. I've got another on order with a few changes, too. Just be sure to leave enough tongue to go under the buckle, no matter which belt hole is being used.
johnggrg Report post Posted December 7, 2010 There's a whole section on the forum that includes belts: http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showforum=67 I was thinking of a direct link. I went there and went threw about 6 pages and stopped didn't see anything on them. A normal belt yes. A holster yes. Western gun belt and how it is made no. Just the belt not the holster is what I was talking about. The other link that was a whole other forum to search threw to find it. Lots to read which a good thing. Just not finding anything on the western gun belt that is made for the holster to attach to. Thanks for your replies. I hope someone knows a direct link to something like it. Dwight Report post Posted December 8, 2010 For most folks who have a background in leather working, . . . the VHS tapes I saw by John Bianchi are a bit of overkill, . . . but he is fully thorough in his treatment of the subject. A person could start from knowing virtually nothing, . . . and build a really nice rig from those videos. There are three to the set. I don't remember the name, sorry, but a Goggle or two ought to find it. May God bless, Dwight
Dwight Report post Posted December 8, 2010 Later last night, out on Ebay, there is a DVD from John Bianchi, . . . a little over $50, . . . I don't know if it is the same as the first one I saw, . . . but he is a very effective teacher, I think. May God bless, Dwight
