albertacountrygirl Report post Posted March 12, 2012 I have an antique 1921 Singer Cobbler Machine that I just got. Wondering if anyone knows anything about this machine? I want to use it for some leather sewing if possible but I don't do any real heavy stuff like boots - possibly I will start making some saddle bags or something though! Any input is welcome. Northmount Report post Posted March 12, 2012 I hope this pic shows up ok. Leighton's should have parts and supplies for it. They are selling a reconditioned one on their site. Located in Delburne Alberta. CTG
albertacountrygirl Report post Posted March 12, 2012 Thanks for the help so far. I will contact both companies mentioned. The machine is still at my son's house and I am in the process of rearranging my leather room to accomodate it. It's dang heavy and once it gets where I want it, it isn't going to be moved! ELeBlanc Report post Posted March 12, 2012 There is a model number under the Singer gold shield. It looks like is a 29k series. There are also a lot of basic parts available on Ebay for this series of machine. Bob Kovar (sewmun on this website) of Toledo Industrial Sewing sells most everything under the sun for most every leather machine - plus its good to give business to other people on this website! catskin Report post Posted March 12, 2012 Bob Kovar will likely be less than half the price of Leightons even with shipping. If you want to sew saddle bags that will carry something this machine is to small. You will soon find that any more than 3 ply of deer skin will be its limit. I have a 29K51 which looks the same and it only uses 138 or lighter thread which is not strong enough for saddle bags. Anything less then 277 is to light.
