One Machine To Do Everything I Need

Ok I'm sure i am asking a redundant question that has been asked many times before, but i just can't seem to find the answer. I am new to all of this and want to be able to sew with a machine. I am interested in making holsters, belts, chaps and similar stuff. SO i was wondering if there is one machine that could sew small thread stuff, with thinner leathers like chaps, belts and wallets and also large enough to sew with bigger heavier thread with thicker leather for making holsters. Also would like to find one that is user friendly (I have read that some of the machines are hard to use when going slow for long runs such as belts when you are new like me). Also i would like to find something that is middle of the road in price range (Not wanting some cheap piece of crap but don't want to drop $5,000). Thanks for the help, DC

There is no such machine. You need two machines to do what you want to do. One machine will sew up to 7/8" or 3/4" and the smaller one will sew up to 3/8" to 1/2". The big machines don't like doing the thinner material.

Thank you for the reply busted. When i was referring to chaps i am actually talking about thicker chaps like farrier chaps and chinks and not rodeo chaps. I don't know if that makes a difference. DC

Trust me, once you get in to it you will want to own more then one machine. I own a cobra 17 and a Luberto classic and still want to buy a post machine.

I have an Adler 205-370. I can sew from 1/2" thick veg tan to 5oz chap leather without making any adjustments while still producing a very nice stitch. I have smaller machines but the Adler does such a nice job I end up using it most of the time. I bought the machine new about 15 years ago, it is used several hours a day six days a week and I have never had any problems with it. It is more costly then many others but I guess you get what you pay for.

I use my Toro 3000 for chaps, belts, tack, knife sheaths, holsters, everything. Just have to change the needle and thread sizes. Have had no problems with it at all. I did buy a flatbed attachment for it to help out on the chaps tho. Works just fine.

I have a Cobra Class 4 and sew chaps as well as Breast Collars. Just have to change the thread and needle size just as with the Toro 3000.

You really only need one machine. A 31-15/111w155/cowboy 4500/Campball high lift. Let me know where to buy one!
