Really nice Marlon! I really love your edges on this too, and everything else. I've looked at that article a few times and keep thinking I should give it a try. Doubt I could do as nice as yours.

Beautiful carving and stamping work and edges. Is it my computer screen or is the background dye weeping up into your beautiful carving?

Lovely work, Rawhide..love the stamping and the tooling you've done on it..

What lining does it have?

Oh and you need to work on those edges... (joke.!!) :)

Please do not adjust your computer screen...there is nothing wrong! the background dye did bleed. I think I know why, but I will have to try some things to verify.

I appreciate all the wonderful comments. Thanks everyone!

Such a shame that it bled, but it is still a beautiful piece of work. The depth on those flowers makes my hands itch to hold it, and I love the little scrolls you cut down the middle ribbon.

I use antique stain for the background it seems not to run or bleed so much you may want to try that... and how did you do your edges???

I've done that before, but I wanted the really hard contrast. I know what I did that caused the bleeding...I forgot a step before dying. My edges are a variation of Bob parks method and quite a process. In a nut shell, I edge them, sand them with 400-600 grit sand paper. Dye the edge with a burnt wool dauber, then moisten the edge, rub the edge with glycerine soap, and burnish with cordura or canvas. buff with white t-shirt, and the seal them with 2 parts leather balm with atom wax, 1 part resolene.

Migthy fine work sir ! Who would think a perfect edge would be so elusive. I have used a magic marker to fix some spots on my work when this happens . That aside ,the stitching is perfect ,overall look very SHARP and CRISP ! I was struck by the shape of the bag its very appealing . It takes very good dimensions to make a bag work . Just a 1/2 inch in any direction changes everything . In my opinion you have nailed it on the size (Perfect) This is without a doubt leather craft taken to its highest level . You have done with leather what Beethoven did to music ! I am impressed ! Thank you for posting your work . This needs to be sitting on the WOW ! shelf in the leather hall of fame if there is one . I am grateful to you for showing me this ,if I had another life time I might get close to this level . Thanks ! Bill

Thanks for the kind words Bill. I still believe I have quite a long way to go though. My ultimate goal is to be with the likes of George Hurst, Jim Linnell, Peter Main, Bob Park, and Jim Jackson. One day Bill, one day.....
