Gasoline

Recommended Posts

On the way home I tried to get gas and everyone had panicked because of the storm and bought gas. All the stations for 30 miles on the way home were out! Finally the one near home still had some and I was able to fill up. Soon after I left they were out too.

I got word that Tuscaloosa county in Alabama is OUT. That's county wide. Governor of 'Bama has declared State of Emergency to keep the price gouging down. I suspect it's looking ugly in other places too.

I'm in GA and our weather is great. It's just people panicking about the gas not being available or having a high price. The gov. here also implemented the gouging regulations. One station went up to 5.51 per gal then after it was reported they lowered it $.75 a gal.

The weather in TX looks pretty bad. I hope everyone stays safe!

You all are in my prayers.

Well, half the dang problem is the saying they're all so proud of: "Everything's bigger in Texas". If it wasn't for that, they could've just had a regular little hurricane.

Yeah, Thursday they announced on the news that Ivan would cause fuel prices to rise.... everyone hit the stations.... me too, but I could only afford $20 at $3.49. Last night I had to run to my Uncles and on the way there and back i watched the station prices... Ranged from $3.79 to $4.11..... really sucked... and still does...

Along the central Texas Coast, I have only seen one station go up .10 so far.

In our area, we were was lucky and only received 40 to 50 mph winds from Hurricane Ike, a 100 miles up the road in Houston, they weren't as lucky. Galveston is a mess.

Back to the gas issue, from the tv reports a lot of tankers were being filled and stationed along the evec routes. One report showed 21 tanker trucks waiting to be filled at the refinery before the storm hit. With 20% of the gasoline being produce in the Houston area, some of the wholesalers may have been trying to buy as much fuel as possible before the refineries shut down for the storm???

A link to gas prices across the US. http://www.houstongasprices.com/price_by_county.aspx

Hope all the Houston area members are safe and well.

We had Luke's experience here in VA:

I was tooling around Fri. afternoon, running some errrands. It was at about 3.50 most places. My husband called to say he was going to get gas after work. By the time he was able to start trying (+5 pm) some stations were all out, one was at 4.19 and most others were just below 4.00!!! That, in a 2 hr time period!!!
