rosiart Report post Posted March 30, 2014 Although I can see the need for improvement in my stitching, I am really happy with this. I used the Arthur Porter you tube videos as my starting point. I have had the leather for more than a year, waiting for this project I think. There are a few more pics on my blog. Thanks for looking.

rosiart Report post Posted March 30, 2014 Thanks, Aaron. I really like the colour of that leather and figured it would make a good purse for the spring ( if it ever arrives :-))

MonicaJacobson Report post Posted March 31, 2014 Very nice! It looks very clean and well done. I like the gray leather. I was looking at some gray Austin leather the other day. I had planned to buy some, but was disappointed at how the brown showed through once it aged a little and made it look purple. Your leather has no such problem. Very nice! rosiart Report post Posted March 31, 2014 Thanks for the kind words Tom ,5spice, Monica and Miss Denise. Monica, the leather is not gray but a kind of dusty aqua. Hard to describe but really pretty in person and very spring like. Guess the picture reads differently on your computer. I am in a bit of a quandary though, as someone is asking me to make her one. I'm not sure I have enough leather left since I want to try and make matching sandals and the hardware was one of a kind. I wouldn't even begin to know what I should charge for something like this. Any idea?
scootinnc Report post Posted March 31, 2014 I have no idea what you should charge, but I was just getting ready to ask you about the hardware when you stated that it was one of a kind You did a great job stitching, in my opinion. Do you have a double stitcher or did you run it through twice? Also, what is your blog address?
rosiart Report post Posted March 31, 2014 (edited) The hardware was a buckle from a belt I purchased at the Salvation Army thrift store. It had the weight I was looking for and looked really nice so I just removed the tongue to use it. The buckles came from a purse I got on sale at value village. Recycling means I can get some unique things :-) I sewed this on my vintage singer 153w100. The double lines on the flap were stitched separately. I got some topstitch feet to keep the stitching lines even. My blog address is at the end of my posts. :-) Thanks, G2 Edited March 31, 2014 by rosiart
MonicaJacobson Report post Posted March 31, 2014 Ha, everybody has such wildly different ideas of what you should charge (from $150 - $650) that the best you can do is decide how much you need to charge to motivate you to make it.
Bob Blea Report post Posted March 31, 2014 I don't have a good idea on what to charge either, but it looks really good so make sure you charge enough to make it worth your time. That is a really professional looking bag! Bob
Northmount Report post Posted March 31, 2014 $350 plus if your market will bear it. Tom

That is a really professional looking bag! Bob Thanks for the kind comment Bob. It's probably the thing I am most pleased with so far in my leather working stuff. Not totally happy of course-there are always things I could have done better and from what I read, I think most of us are like that.
rosiart Report post Posted March 31, 2014 Tom, I am in the GTA so I think I could ask that. My sister in law thinks so anyways. It's just a matter of whether I have enough of the leather left to do so and deciding if I really want to try and replicate it. Sometimes when your hobby becomes a job, you lose your hobby.
