ladybowhunter Report post Posted April 10, 2014 I've been leatherworking less than a year. This is the largest project I've done. I'm hooked!

ladybowhunter Report post Posted April 15, 2014 Thank You and I did cut fringe on the bottom. I just didn't take new pic. I gave them as a birthday present to my riding buddy this weekend. She was very surprised and happy with them. Someone at the party asked me to make a rifle scabbard. New project that I haven't done yet. Also does anyone have some tips on burnishing the edges. I know the scabbard is going to require more than the wooden hand burnisher I have.
rickybobby Report post Posted May 31, 2014 Very nice job on those! On your Rifle Scabbard, After stitching together, trim excess off with a super sharp knife, then sand the 2 pieces (or 3 if you have a welt) with a sanding block. Start with 80 grit, then 150, finish with 320. Round the edge. Use a damp sponge to wet only the leather edge, rub some saddle soap on the edge. Use a piece of old blue jean material or canvas to slick the edge. Only re wet edge enough to see the burnishing action take place (turns slick and brown) if thats not happening it is to wet or not wet enough!
