Eddie1968 Report post Posted July 20, 2014 Been mostly making knives this year. Friend of a friend wanting to try something new. I've only gotten some tooling done. But I will post more pics as I go. Eddie

Eddie1968 Report post Posted July 29, 2014 ok here are some updated photos. still not quite done. have some burnishing to do. plus i have to add another item. but i'm not saying what that is. you'll have to wait and see. so anyway be gentle. this was an all new process for me. i've never sewn with my machine on a project this big. Also this is my first liner to put on. i will post pics of liner after i burnish.
Colt W Knight Report post Posted July 29, 2014 Love those letters
Frederiek Report post Posted July 31, 2014 Very nice, I love to see work in progress. Something particularly I like is the checkering inside the letters. Is it all handstitched by the way? For the looks or is it lined?
Eddie1968 Report post Posted July 31, 2014 No sir I have a sewing machine. My first real sewing project with it. And yes there is a liner. Thanks. Eddie
ELM Report post Posted August 2, 2014 That is impressive...from start to finish. That is the first time I've seen that type of backgrounding/matting. Is that just a foliage stamp? The sewing looked great. It must have been tough keeping so straight and even. What weight leather and liner did you use? Are these your designs (strap and tooling) or are they commercially available?
Eddie1968 Report post Posted August 3, 2014 thanks. uh lets see the leather is supposed to be 7/8 oz but it feels a bit thinner to me. and the liner is 2 oz again just guessing on that. And i can't say its an original design. the back ground tool is one from Tandy. The sewing was a stressful process. That was really my first big project with my machine. I've done a few scabbards with it, but nothing like the strap. thanks again Eddie
