Hi Im Joe Report post Posted December 1, 2014 (edited) Hello fellow leatherworkers, I've been busy utilizing the awesome brown CXL I got from Aurora Shoe Co. Here are a few more wallets in some differently styles. In the next couple of days I plan to release these to etsy as a wallet series made entirely of brown CXL. I cannot stress how much I love using this leather. I thought that CXL wouldn't take a burnish. However, I was wrong. The grain is so tight on this CXL it will absolutely burnish. I use saddle soap and then beeswax. The first wallet is a minimalist bi-fold stitched with linen thread I waxed myself. The second is a snap wallet stitched with Ritza Tiger Thread. The card wallet is stitched with Ritza Tiger Thread and lined with cotton duck fabric. Thanks for looking! Hi Im Joe Report post Posted December 1, 2014 Nice stuff there Joe. Those are beauties. Thanks so much Rohn! I liked your green holster btw. It's always fun to see knife sheaths and holsters in colors other than black or brown!

Wild Bill46 Report post Posted December 1, 2014 Hi Joe, ------------------------- As always your wallets are a thing to behold ! always intrigueing and nicely done. In picture five Im seeing a relitilely new idea, at least to me, the thumb, can retreve its bills from either the top or the end with ease, and the card slots do not interfere. You, among anothers, are an inspiration to me. Even if it was an easy leather to work with. ----------- Wild Bill46

Hi Im Joe Report post Posted December 2, 2014 Nice wallets Joe! I sometimes like edges raw and unburnished. Nice designs. Thanks Benlily! I agree sometimes it does look nice. However, with this wallets bevelling and burnishing the edges just makes them feel so much better in your hand.

billybopp Report post Posted December 2, 2014 Good lookin' pieces. The stitching looks really good. You did use a pricking iron from both sides on those, didn't you? Bill
Hi Im Joe Report post Posted December 2, 2014 Good lookin' pieces. The stitching looks really good. You did use a pricking iron from both sides on those, didn't you? Bill Thanks so much! No I didn't use a pricking iron on both sides (that method never worked out for me...I did try it though just not on these wallets). I used the iron I believe on the outside and then used an awl to open the hole. LOL, no, I don't. We'll see how it goes. If its like your other stuff I'm sure it will turn out awesome!
