Josh Ashman Report post Posted February 5, 2015 I've wanted to give this a try for a while but never managed to find the time until now. This is the 1911 holster and shoulder harness from the Al Stohlman holster book. I modified the holster slightly to cover the trigger and I made the harness several inches bigger and flared the top of the shoulder strap about an inch or so instead of having it be the same width as shown in the book. 10 oz HO on the holster with 2 coats of NF oil and a light wipe of Fiebings Hi-Lighter. The top piece of the harness is some scrap chap leather in the 4-5oz range, bottom piece is 8 oz HO and the 1/2 strap is also 8 oz HO. Thanks for looking, Josh
camano ridge Report post Posted February 5, 2015 Josh that turned out great. When ever I have made that pattern I also have found that the straps need to be lengthend.

Haystacker Report post Posted February 5, 2015 I think you guys are saying we eat better than they did in the 1950's. Great looking work as usual. I wear one of the Stohlman shoulder holsters daily.
TexasJack Report post Posted February 6, 2015 That's a really, really nice job! They could use that as an ad for the pattern.

Boriqua Report post Posted May 14, 2015 What a great looking holster! Is this the book you are referring too? http://www.amazon.com/How-Make-Holsters-Al-Stohlman/dp/1892214989/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1431626205&sr=8-1&keywords=al+stohlman+holster

BondoBobCustomSaddles Report post Posted May 15, 2015 Josh you have done a really nice job on this one. I especially like the look of your tooling and border, it sets it off just right. Bob

Josh Ashman Report post Posted May 15, 2015 Thank you Bob, I'd like to take some credit for that border and carving pattern but I just copied Al. Which, if you're gonna copy somebody, he's a good one to go to! Thank you Murray!
RVM45 Report post Posted May 15, 2015 (edited) Friend, That Holster didn't look half bad... Three-Quarters Bad Maybe—but Not Half... Humor. I really liked that Holster and I have the Stohlman Book. Sadly I don't have a 1911A1 and don't foresee one in my impoverished future anytime soon. But I do have several other Semi-Autos—Ruger MK I & Mk II, a pair of 5906s, Etc. How well do you think the basic Design cold e modified as a Double Rig? Really nice work! ….RVM45 Edited May 15, 2015 by RVM45
