Members CaptQuirk Posted July 10, 2017 Members Report Posted July 10, 2017 I would have gone with a longer box, so that you can really see the artwork. But, adding the book was an extra nice touch Quote
alpha2 Posted July 23, 2017 Report Posted July 23, 2017 Great luck for you! I've got to start looking in those shops more. I visited a shop in Buffalo, Wyoming this summer and found a half dozen belts, but I was only looking for the buckle sets, and the belts were bare. And, not that good either. Time to kick up the search! Thanks for sharing. Quote So much leather...so little time.
Contributing Member 24VOLTS Posted July 4, 2018 Contributing Member Report Posted July 4, 2018 That is a lucky treasure find. You are very fortunate to have found that. It is amazing work! I am amazed at how well it looks. I think that is so cool to have found that!!! Thanks for sharing the pictures. Quote
Members Dlmade Posted January 15, 2020 Members Report Posted January 15, 2020 I grew up across the street from Ray Pojha in the 1960’s and went to school with his daughter Cindy in Phoenix. When Christmas came around my mother would order belts with our kids name on them. I still have two of his belts. Some of his earliest work. Quote
CFM chuck123wapati Posted January 15, 2020 CFM Report Posted January 15, 2020 (edited) The back is what impresses me, those cuts are simple but beautiful, is it a lined belt or are those cuts on the rough ? I couldn't help looking deeper into this man what a humble honest and caring person he must have been his work is amazing. Members chriscraft Posted January 15, 2020 Author Members Report Posted January 15, 2020 Chuck, the belt is lined. The front side of the belt is filegree cut and inlayed with a dark colored lizard skin I believe. Quote
Members chriscraft Posted February 3, 2020 Author Members Report Posted February 3, 2020 I picked up another enclosed display case for the belt. You weren’t able to get a good view of the belt while it was in the shadow box case. This new clear plexiglass case shows it off better and you get a view of the entire belt. I added a Ray Pohja doodle page copy for the background. Quote
Contributing Member Bob Blea Posted February 3, 2020 Contributing Member Report Posted February 3, 2020 That is a very classy display case. Looks like it came from a museum. CFM chuck123wapati Posted February 3, 2020 CFM Report Posted February 3, 2020 The doodle pages and printed works of his always fascinated me but they don't do justice to the actual work. That belt is amazing. Members chriscraft Posted February 3, 2020 Author Members Report Posted February 3, 2020 Thanks... it’s a nice presentation case that I picked up used and I really didn’t pay much for it. It does make the belt look like it’s part of an exhibit. The belt will remain enclosed in this case as I’ll never be able to use it. It measures out to be a size 28” -29” belt and way too small for me. Must have been made for a very slim person. Quote
