MudBugWill Report post Posted May 5, 2015 (edited) Here is the progress on my briefcase. Photos were very helpful to me in creating the design and construction of this, so I figure I'll share what I have done so far. I'm waiting on a D-ring to finish it. Right now it's on hold. I cut out and skived all edges that weren't top edges I lined them with green suede Made my strap keepers Sewed my three piece gussets, pre-lined, which seems like a mistake. I needes to make a little cover for the gap. Do most people line with one piece after they sew them together? Edited May 5, 2015 by MudBugWill

Slanted stitches on both side.) made my handle and handle/shoulder strap gussets Here's a little mock up with stuff kind of draped on

FidesLeather Report post Posted May 6, 2015 Looks great! Really nice paring job on the second picture. Just out of curiosity, what kind of knife is that (the left one) in the same picture?

MudBugWill Report post Posted May 6, 2015 Thank you all for the compliments. For my stitching I punch all the way through with a Blanchard Iron. I noticed a dramatic improvment in the aesthetics of my stitching once I started doing that. The knife to the left of the pared gussets is a kiridashi style knife I made. It is made from 3/32" o1 tool steel heat treated to 62 RC with a chisel grind. The handle is some scrap dyed wood I had from another knife I made. The pins are copper. I really love that knife. It stays super sharp and is my go-to for cutting leather. This thread has some photos of it: http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=62474 Here's a photo of my latest carry knife I made. I'm pretty happy with how it came out.
