Managed to finish my Esher inspired bag with a little help from some friends on the board:

Its from a pattern which I took from a Tandy Magnolia kit I had bought and made previously. Really pleased with the finish product but I had an awful time lacing it.

Super cool. I've been wanting to do the birds and fish escher.

Super clean looking, nobody will notice that lacing with that awesome pattern on it! (although I think your lacing looks good on it too) ;)

Thanks for the nice comments.

Do it! What have you been planning to use it on?

I love his work I think the tessellations transfer over well to tooling I have been thinking of using his hand drawing a hand design for the next bag I'm making.

I was thinking a wallet, or maybe a stitched on piece for a bag. I had only ever intended to do a medium amount of tooling - I hadn't even considered taking it as far as you went. The hand drawing a hand would be awesome! My husband makes mandolins, and he's also thrown around the idea of a whole fretboard inlaid with an escher pattern. Understandably, he hasn't done it yet, either.
