Bob Blea Report post Posted November 20, 2015 Hi all. I made this as a custom order for a customer who had seen one of my 5x8 notepads and wanted the same design but on a notebook that could hold an 8x11 notepad. This was the result. I wish I had spent the time to get better pictures of it but I was trying to get it out in time to arrive by his birthday! Hope you all have a fantastic day. For some reason my iPad likes to put all my pictures on their sides.
Rohn Report post Posted November 20, 2015 You did a really good job on it. Doing that design would kinda drive a person crazy, but it looks like you got it down pat.
corkscrew Report post Posted November 20, 2015 Nice looking binder. Especially like the border lacing. I've used that knot on several projects, it takes awhile but really looks good when you're done.
Bob Blea Report post Posted November 20, 2015 Thanks Rohn and Tom, I have made that design several times as well, so it's getting to where it doesn't take long. I'm looking to do some more complicated knots soon. I want to push myself some on these.
Northmount Report post Posted November 20, 2015 Do an experiment, hold the iPad in different positions to figure out which way makes the photos post right. Apple products and some other cameras store XIF data with the photos and some software reads that and will display the photo the direction you took it. Most webpages ignore the XIF data. And, great note pad cover! Tom
LederRudi Report post Posted November 21, 2015 Great notepad cover, Bob! I like all about it: design, background, lacing and clean natural look´. Antiquing always (at least when I do it) makes the the workpiece look somewhat "dirty", so I converted to "clean natural" recently, and like most converts I emerged as a zealot in my new belief, calling down damnation on the impenitents but lauding your work! LederRudi Report post Posted November 23, 2015 Clarification: Design that I cover with resist (celtic knots and other) to make it stand out, always appears somewhat "dirty" when antiqued. Pic: hebrew initials with hand of Fatima. I produced additional smears when I applied Supersheene on the hand's background...and had to make another birthday present. Bob Blea Report post Posted November 23, 2015 Hi LederRudi, I know what you mean. I've had problems like that on occasion though in my case it's usually my resist not 'resisting' enough and I end up with streaks. I've had to remake things a few times too, though I may finally be getting my technique down to where that doesn't happen (I HOPE!). But I guess I'm still impenitent. Your case looked really nice, to bad you had to remake it! Bob
corkscrew Report post Posted November 23, 2015 Interesting design LederRudi! I like the contrast you got with colors, nice looking.
LederRudi Report post Posted November 24, 2015 Thank you for the consoling words, guys! The design didn't look bad on paper but the execution definitely lacks the precision I can see in your celtic design, Bob, and in your shirtfront, Tom!
