mikesc Posted October 21, 2016 Report Posted October 21, 2016 So, it was knowing exactly where to hit it, how hard to hit it, and with precisely the correct size hammer ;) Quote "Don't you know that women are the only works of Art" .. ( Don Henley and "some French painter in a field" )

Members pmreed Posted August 22, 2019 Members Report Posted August 22, 2019 I realize it was a few years ago, but "The pics above tell most of the story" doesn't help much. I am experiencing the same problem with a new 1541S. Nothing I have done - remove and clean hook, rethread, reneedle has worked the two fingers that fit in the slots don't reach far enough to hold the hook. Can anyone be more explicit about what the ultimate fix was? This shouldn't happen to a brand new machine. Quote
CowboyBob Posted August 22, 2019 Report Posted August 22, 2019 The only finger that holds the hook basket in place is the upper one @ the top of the hook. When this type of machine gets thread jammed in the hook it makes it bind up & if the clutch doesn't kickout fast enough it gets forced out of the finger.Alot of times it bends the finger away from the slot & needs to be taken off & either replaced or re-bent so it can hold. Members brmax Posted August 22, 2019 Members Report Posted August 22, 2019 (edited) Yes its always good as you say to remove the bobbin case, and clean it out. That bobbin case holder; it has the finger on it. This may need reset from the bottom side with its screw. In some situations a different one can be obtained. One has to remember these holder/finger surfaces require care, and spacing. Some aftermarket special parts may have a bit different /finger. This could be discussed, I'm not familiar with aftermarket or custom Is there an engineers manual at your location, handy. An ops manual is also a benefit but some items are better illustrated in these others, including a parts book. Good day Floyd Edited August 22, 2019 by brmax Quote

Juki DNU-1541S Hook Supporting plate install and adjusting.pdf Two ways to fix this; heat the existing hook supporting plate red hot and hit it with a hammer to bend into place. This part will break and not bend if you hit it without heating it. Another is to get and modify say a Consew 206RB supporting plate, and use that one instead that can be 'adjusted' by bending it closer to and from the hook. Members pmreed Posted October 27, 2019 Members Report Posted October 27, 2019 Thanks, Bob! I think that things loosened up, in transit, and the T135 thread completely bound up and threw the timing out of whack. Quote
