MartinHrcka Report post Posted November 1, 2016 Hello all, Let me show you my latest project / product. It's a minimalist bi-fold card wallet. Made out of veg-tanned leather, hand dyed and sewn. Let me know what you think about it. Cheers!

AussieMade Report post Posted November 2, 2016 I like this a lot, I need to get my backside into gear and make something like this for my business cards. Great work on the dye work.
MartinHrcka Report post Posted November 2, 2016 Thank you gentlemen! Here are some pics of my first try of "rough" look (or worn out, I don't know). I use it as my wallet.
AussieMade Report post Posted November 2, 2016 I really like that one too, I love the colour effect, Is it applied with a paint brush to get that effect?
MartinHrcka Report post Posted November 2, 2016 It's a tricky and time consuming process of sanding the leather multiple times, grits and layering different dyes + finishes. You can find out more here.
Wedgetail Report post Posted November 2, 2016 Sounds like a fun experiment! Time to go into 'mad scientist' mode, I think Normally I just airbrush, but that doesn't get the lines like that.
MartinHrcka Report post Posted November 2, 2016 Sometimes fun, sometimes not :D , but go for it I think, I need to get my hands on some airbrush kit and try it... never done that before. Good luck then!
MADMAX22 Report post Posted November 2, 2016 One thing that will wear like that after use is to dye the leather a light color then use a sponge that is semi dry with just enough dye on it to brush over the leather and leave pigment. Ya dont want to soak the leather with the darker dye. Similar effect as to doing reverse antique type dying. After some good use the darker dye thats just on the surface starts to wear off in areas and shows the lighter colors underneath. Gotta be careful and experiment with the amount of darker dye you add to the top layer.
JHobbs Report post Posted December 17, 2016 Very nice, I like the color contrast of the stitching. It really shows off the great stitching you did.
