Does anyone know where I can find a thicker gauge (.097" thick, or so) straps or belting that is a minimum of 85" long?

Need it to be 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" wide.  Good quality, tough and rugged, not stretchy belly stuff.  Will be used for rifle slings.

Thanks!

They said the longest they've got are about 65".

Maybe they misunderstood me because I have no idea what I'm talking about.  Brand new to this craft.

What knd of blunderbuss do you have that needs an 8 foot long rifle sling?

Give us some details, . . . maybe one of us has wandered down that road before.

May God bless,

Dwight

:lol:Haha....

Well, the sling's length is adjustable from about 27" shortest to about 37" fully elongated.

I make them out of nylon webbing now and want to do a nice leather model.

Thank you.

Call em back see if you can order some good herman oak and double check see if they can cut for ya. Just FYI skiving herman oak is kinda tough even with a sharp blade. Wet it and then skive. I thought my blade wasn't sharp enough yet come find out it was the leather cause it was so dense. Edit: the import ain't bad they carry.

You can get the length by using rein or harness back ie shoulder and butt together, the strongest bit is down the backbone but you will need to watch the shoulder end as it will be lighter in weight and more stretchy. I managed to get a rolled dog lead to over 97" once all hand stitched from a rein back.
