steelhawk Report post Posted January 26, 2017 A customer has asked me to make him an in-the-waistband small of the back holster. Two things come to mind. 1. He might be confused about what he wants. 2. I don't think there is such a thing, but I need more info before I contact him again. Has anyone here ever heard of something like this? Josh Ashman Report post Posted January 26, 2017 Be prepared for an onslaught of "SOB holsters are the devil" comments. My 2 cents is that like any other carry position it works for some and doesn't work for others. There are several things to consider about SOB carry, i.e. possibility of serious back injury if you fall on it, serious printing if you bend over, etc. Then palm out or palm in bring up another round of discussions. When I get asked for an SOB holster I have these conversations with the customer so that they know what they are looking at, assuming they didn't already. If they are committed to getting one I'm generally fine to build them one. And, although I don't use it often, I do have a clip on IWB similar to the one pictured above, except it's "palm in" for an officers model 1911. In my opinion it serves some purposes just fine. All the best, Josh
CaptQuirk Report post Posted January 26, 2017 Josh is right, there is bound to be a flurry of folks complaining about "the risk of injury if you fall". If you are that a risk of falling on your butt, don't carry it. It is not my preferred style, so I don't wear one. If somebody else wants it, no problem. I don't like making them. And I have the above conversation with them because folks like to place blame on others too much. I usually talk them into something else. A lot of time they are new carriers, not dedicated SOB wearers. But if they are set on it, I want them to know it comes with more serous possible risks than other methods. And I don't want to be responsible for the consequences if they don't know. If they know the problems, their decision. IWB, left hand, palm out. CaptQuirk Report post Posted January 26, 2017 @chiefjason- I don't care for concealed holsters in general, I prefer a holster that stands out and has some style and personality. That said, I don't mind doing things outside of my norm, just for the experience and a little challenge.
Bayou Bengal Report post Posted May 14, 2017 Sorry for bumping an old thread, but I completed one of these for a customer. I hated the design, but it's what the customer wanted. I doubt I'll do another one because I just don't like them, but who knows
