Members Mattsbagger Posted February 11, 2017 Members Report Posted February 11, 2017 Tru dat. He even explains why he snips one side of a snap under a fold so it doesn't wear. Uses the same hand rivet and snap setters I have too! Lol That sewing machine of his is a beast! He says it won't go through his stainless reinforcement pieces. But I'm not to sure it wont. Quote
Contributing Member JLSleather Posted February 11, 2017 Author Contributing Member Report Posted February 11, 2017 Kaint say I understood the part about snipping a snap Quote "Observation is 9/10 of the law." Members Mattsbagger Posted February 11, 2017 Members Report Posted February 11, 2017 The base part of the snap. So there is a flat side where the leather folds instead of round. Quote
Contributing Member JLSleather Posted February 16, 2017 Author Contributing Member Report Posted February 16, 2017 Okay, well .. after a week 'n' a day, iss juss you 'n' me goin on about sam -- which I take it to mean either 1) there is no video that actually offers useful info, or 2) there is,but issa secret Either way -- guess I'll make one juss fer me. Maybe some info about making them there 75/25 holsters (seam not down teh middle)... but I'd be the only one interested anyway. Everybody else appears content with bad music and videos which don't actually inform Quote "Observation is 9/10 of the law." alpha2 Posted February 16, 2017 Report Posted February 16, 2017 If you would do one without nasty metal "music" and someone's hand in front of the important of the video, there are actually a LOT of people waiting for your video. I know I am. Frankly, though, I don't know where you get the time for all of this. It's a stretch for me to put in the time that I do, until December...retirement...AND I GET MY LIFE BACK! Members Mattsbagger Posted February 16, 2017 Members Report Posted February 16, 2017 I'm all for a good video. It don't need any music. Quote
Contributing Member JLSleather Posted February 20, 2017 Author Contributing Member Report Posted February 20, 2017 I really don't 'get' it... if somebody said 'hey- pay attention to me while I take up 20-30 minutes of your life and you gain nothing'.. very few would be 'in' on that. And yet.. No point going on about it. My suggestion is: when you watched a video, maybe jot down what you actually got out of it. I understand that some people WANT to be distracted from actually doing anything -- I'm talking to the other ones Quote "Observation is 9/10 of the law." Members particle Posted February 20, 2017 Members Report Posted February 20, 2017 I'm curious what exactly makes a good video in everyone's opinion? I've seen both ends of the spectrum in various threads - short, concise, only the basics, just a few minutes long, all the way up to full-length, no details skipped, showing every step along the way. I took a poll on one of the holster-related message boards a while back, and the responses were fairly evenly distributed. My videos aren't the greatest, but I generally try to make each one slightly better than the last. As a visual learner, most of what I know about leather working came from watching YouTube videos and studying photos online. JLSleather - if you decide to make a video, I'm sure I'll watch it, and enjoy every minute of it. What you won't see is me coming here talking negatively about it, because as an amateur video maker myself, I know how much work went into producing it. Showing how and WHY it's done . I watch them as educational not entertainment. Camera work where I can see what is done as opposed to someone doing something I can't really see. Quote
Members sideforce Posted February 20, 2017 Members Report Posted February 20, 2017 I've enjoyed your videos and learned from them. Camera work is important to see the detail. Thank you for the effort you've put into sharing your methods, Like Mattsbagger, I'm seeking the education. Quote
