I was wondering is there other dye company's out there besides Feibings, Angelus, Tandy or hobby store stuff. What do the big commercial operations use in the leather goods industry or what dyes does say HO or W&C use on there hides?

I think for the most part Feibings is the most widely used. I am personally a big fan of Angelus products also. As for what your major tanneries use, good luck finding that out as it considered trade secrets and it is why some leathers are light years above others in quality. If they let people know how they do it we would all be doing it ourselves.

Fiebing's, Angelus, Lincoln, Kelly's, Tandy, Dyo aka LCI, Tarrago, Bostonian, Veco, BASF, and others.  When it comes to tanneries, you may find no concrete answers but I would guess that they buy from either the common names (Fiebing's, etc.), from specialty suppliers like Oxitenow, Chemtan, First Source, or from large chemical houses like Dow.  All of those companies make either dyes or other products used with the dyes.

I noticed that even Fiebing's sells dye (and other products) in 55 Gallon drums, so someone must be buying it in that kind of quantity.

I would not expect any of the larger suppliers to have a minimum order any of use could reach.  (Once I contacted a tannery directly and found their minimum order was 10k square feet of leather in one color and thickness or they wouldn't talk to me. Ouch! I imagine it's the same type of situation with the larger suppliers of dye.

LeFarc.  That is the leather used by Saddleback, among others.

I rather go for a Horween leather ))

Le Farc is mentioned above. I know his videos says he has one tannery in Mexico that he deals with, but that may just be talk, or maybe that is Le Farc, I don't know.

I thought it was a type of leather like a suede or nubuck.

So, is there a leather like nubuck called saddle leather?

No they make an oversized, excessively grandiose, point of saying they only use full grain.   They actually have an array of leathers and some look more distressed than others. Saddleback is not a type of leather.

Thank you.
