Machine for holsters

Recommended Posts

Thinking about getting into leather holster making.  Ive looked at the tippmann boss and the cowboy 227.  What machines in the used market should I be looking at?  111w?

Thanks

Chris

A 227 isn't big enough for holsters,

I'd look at Cowboy 3200 or 4500.

For holster making we typically recommend a machine that can sew at least 1/2" leather thickness and something that can use size #25 needles with #207 or larger thread. Most of the machine advertisers on here offer such machines, the most popular being the 441-type which can handle up to 7/8".

cheers!

I use a Cowboy CB4500 to sew holsters, ammo pouches, saddles, saddle bags, gun belts, etc. I often sew over 1/2 inch with either #277 or #346 bonded nylon thread. This is far beyond a 227 type machine, or any upholstery class machine.
