Members Bolt Vanderhuge Posted July 17, 2017 Members Report Posted July 17, 2017 I just finished these two 1911 holsters. These are 4" and 5" versions of the same pattern. The cant is 25*. They are built using Hermann Oak leather, 1mm Tigre Thread, Fiebing's Pro Oil dyes and finished with Angelus 605 satin finish. Quote
garypl Posted July 17, 2017 Report Posted July 17, 2017 They look great Bolt! I especially like the Black and Tan model. Quote Cowboy 4500, Consew 206RB-4
Members Dwight Posted July 17, 2017 Members Report Posted July 17, 2017 (edited) Yessir, . . . top notch work. I am a bit curious though, . . . what weight leather are they? Contributing Member JLSleather Posted July 17, 2017 Contributing Member Report Posted July 17, 2017 I like it. The accent appears to be shark, but -- correct me if I'm wrong -- anybody else see the blue elephant in the room ? Quote "Observation is 9/10 of the law." Members Double Daddy Posted July 17, 2017 Members Report Posted July 17, 2017 Straight-up craftsmanship, Bolt...as always...and that ragged piece of "scrap" leather you chose for a back drop was a nice touch as well. Quote Have a great day! Chris
Members Bolt Vanderhuge Posted July 17, 2017 Author Members Report Posted July 17, 2017 Thanks all. Dwight - the leather is 8/9 oz. JLS - you are correct in what you see. Although the elephant color is actually safari grey. But yeah the camera gave it a blue hue. Quote
Members plinkercases Posted July 17, 2017 Members Report Posted July 17, 2017 I love the weight and degree of detail boning.. something about it is just right. Really nice work. Looks like from the back shots that you do as I do and run a loop stick through both slots. Some times I also run a thick weight 1.5 in strap through and then pull it around a large been bag I made to help preform to the waist curve. Members Bolt Vanderhuge Posted July 17, 2017 Author Members Report Posted July 17, 2017 I use your second option :). I built myself a couple double layer 1.5" wide belt strip samples. One is a full 1/4" thick and the other is a little thinner. Quote
