Members verus22 Posted October 17, 2017 Members Report Posted October 17, 2017 After many tries...I'm finally satisfied. Now I get to make 2 more! Quote
Members DJole Posted October 17, 2017 Members Report Posted October 17, 2017 Good work! That's so clean, with a lovely shape and design. How many times did this take you to reach this point? Quote
Members verus22 Posted October 17, 2017 Author Members Report Posted October 17, 2017 I've lost count...maybe 7 or 8? The problem I kept having was with the stitching (as well as a couple design changes). I finally invested in some Blanchard irons and a Barry King awl blade. Made all the difference! Quote
Members the gafer Posted October 17, 2017 Members Report Posted October 17, 2017 Really nice that is Quote
Members snubbyfan Posted October 17, 2017 Members Report Posted October 17, 2017 I like it. Nice even dye job and really nice stitch line. Just nice and clean. Quote
Members Bigfoote Posted October 17, 2017 Members Report Posted October 17, 2017 Really nice and clean, good tools really do help, your stitching is great! Quote
Members Dave Richardson Posted October 17, 2017 Members Report Posted October 17, 2017 Thats a beauty. Everything about it is just right. Quote
Members verus22 Posted October 18, 2017 Author Members Report Posted October 18, 2017 Thank you everyone for your comments and reviews Quote
Members battlemunky Posted October 19, 2017 Members Report Posted October 19, 2017 Yep, beautiful! I thought your other attempts were pretty damn nice too, btw. I'm glad you are happy with it. I've been happy with very few pieces I've made.....there's always something I wish woulda been different. Quote
Members verus22 Posted October 19, 2017 Author Members Report Posted October 19, 2017 Oh, I feel there's always room for improvement in my work. These sheaths are being made for a friend to be given as gifts, so I wanted a standard to meet before I was ready to give them over. Quote
Members Alleghenist Posted October 20, 2017 Members Report Posted October 20, 2017 It's beautiful...and now I am embarrassed I didn't throw my last 6 in the scrap pile. Got a new standard to work up to. Quote
Members kiwican Posted October 20, 2017 Members Report Posted October 20, 2017 Yup. Love the lines on this sheath. Everything works! Quote
Members verus22 Posted October 22, 2017 Author Members Report Posted October 22, 2017 Just finished the re-make of the firefighter sheath per customer request (he didn't like the other design). I included an edge view this time...which is challenging to take a good picture of! This one is a left-hand draw; 2nd out of a set of 3. Quote
Members battlemunky Posted October 22, 2017 Members Report Posted October 22, 2017 Sweet work man! Those edges are beautiful! Quote
Members verus22 Posted October 23, 2017 Author Members Report Posted October 23, 2017 Thank you. I've learned a few new tricks for edge work lately (I do all my builds by hand. No powered machines). I still play around and try new techniques, but I'm getting real close to settling on a standard method for doing edges. I'm gonna have to keep working on the photography so I can get the best edge shots though. Gotta do some research for that now when I have the time. Quote
Members NeilMac Posted October 27, 2017 Members Report Posted October 27, 2017 Very nice clean work, great look. Quote
