Members kiems Posted November 11, 2017 Members Report Posted November 11, 2017 HI everyone. This is my first post on the forum. I've admired a lot of the work I have seen here from afar and I have many aspirations! Just wanted to show you my first wallet. Any tips or pointers appreciated. Thank you Quote
Members plinkercases Posted November 11, 2017 Members Report Posted November 11, 2017 That looks like a great first go at it. Well done. Members motocouture Posted November 11, 2017 Members Report Posted November 11, 2017 Good work, and welcome to the forum!! The edges look good, and I like the natural color Quote
bikermutt07 Posted November 11, 2017 Report Posted November 11, 2017 Great job Quote I'm not paying 80 bucks for a belt!!! It's a strip of leather. How hard could it be? 4 years and 3 grand later.... I have a belt I can finally live with. Stitching is like gravy, it's only great if you make it every day. From Texas but in Bossier City, Louisiana.
Members battlemunky Posted November 11, 2017 Members Report Posted November 11, 2017 (edited) Yeah, for a first go at it, you made a great wallet. It looks like you did get a little contamination on it but that doesn't matter to me, just need to be careful with iron and dyes. Your stitching looks out-damn-standing compared to my first piece. I think Doc Frankenstein did a better job on the monster than I did on my first piece. Nice edges too! Edited November 11, 2017 by battlemunky Quote
Members kiems Posted November 11, 2017 Author Members Report Posted November 11, 2017 Yeah the contamination on the inside / outside came in the last couple of weeks day to day usage. Edging was trying the method on these forums from Hidepounder. I have some more of these to finish now. Finishing the natural leather while keeping the natural look is my next challenge. Thanks. Members rodneywt1180b Posted November 11, 2017 Members Report Posted November 11, 2017 Great first wallet! I just finished throwing my first attempt at serious leather work away. Botched it beyond saving. Quote
Members kiems Posted November 11, 2017 Author Members Report Posted November 11, 2017 I have a lot of practice stuff lying around, but I was happy with this one. Still a ways to go. Quote
