 Lol!!! Yea I guess that would be a worry had I not scrubbed them 8x with acetone and denatured alcohol followed by strait chlorine bleach then Clean water rinse!!

Try a flamethrower. I did my bit cleaning public restrooms

I got my hands on some conveyor  belt cast offs a number of years ago and it works GREAT!

This a great idea! Also, here in corn and bean farming country- some grain elevators have rubber(ish) belting. Also, my weight machine sits on a rubber mat that is thick and wasn't expensive- i don't recall the original intended use...may have to look into that again...great ideas! Thanks!

 Simplest most sanitary solution=don't eat on the leather working tables!

If you are going to cut on a mat, then lay a big sheet of cardboard or a few planks of vinyl flooring on top.   If it gets damaged with a few cuts, dye, grease whatever it is easy to replace.  I have been thinking about flooring on mine for a while just have not done it

  In my shop table refit, with a drawer/storage build. I'm installing a King Plastics product; King Starboard ST in the 1/2".  Its a step I changed to because this is made or designed to not warp. I have plans on a couple tops that lift for a bit of storage, the tops will have this material added on. The lifting should be fun  and a project itself.

It seems to be good with a rotary blade and knives that are sharp. Simple decision on the ST series, addition to its their new product is because it came in brown/ Mocha . This hdpe choice has been a thought for several years, and bolstered from several posted experiences. So this is finally but slowly coming together, and now back to the build. Thanks everyone

I just built my new table and picked up a 1/4” sheet of hdpe from my local menards. So far I’m really happy with much better than my commercial cutting mat, knives slide better and easier to cut rounded corners.
