I recently commissioned a friend who does woodcraft to make a box to hold my linen thread spools. The base is made from Cherry with Wenge corner pins. The top is a 39-piece mosaic made from wenge, sapele, maple, chakte, zebrawood, purpleheart and rosewood.

Thanks. Yeah it beats the plastic box I had it in. Makes the shop (garage) look a little nicer.

I love fine woodwork, and that is some FINE woodwork. What a  handsome, colorful place for your colorful thread to hang out in!

Your friend went above and beyond on that.  My wife wouldn't let me keep something that nice in the shop.

Isn't it amazing how awesome something as simple as a box can be?

That is some fantastic work.

My motto is "If you can't do it over the top, why bother?"  And friend, that is WAY over the top.   Very nice indeed.

I like your motto...
