I have been doing leather so long it seems I would be better at it than I feel I am. In the Autumn of my years I try to be better than when I was young.

Having one or two other full time businesses to handle restricts the time to practice and "Fiddle" with whatever I doggone well want to do.

We decided to do a Web Site. Actually, I have so much leather in the closet that I need to get rid of,,,,,,seems maybe I could sell a few things.

I have THREE ITEMS in the inventory at this moment. I have been fighting and fussing with people from a half dozen companies who supposedly have the easiest and most comprehensive

software to build a site in "ten minutes" !!!!!! Yay

Have done a number of Web Pages for us and other folks. I wrote the code for those. Decided I would do it the easy way. What a joke! All of them have their sites written so

you can get hooked into a hundred things you don't want nor need if you don't watch very carefully. I can do a fairly decent job of photography, don't have much equipment to make

that better and don't intend to buy any more. My wife almost fainted when I bought two cameras that exceeded $1000 each, you can imagine what she said when I ordered a lens that cost

twice what the camera cost.

I am working on photos of some of the items I have made to get them onto the site. The couple Vintage Items I have on the site have interiors I bought at least 50 years ago.

I dug them out of a drawer full of "stuff". They were in their original plastic bags with the Tandy tags on them.

Take a look and don't be too hard on me, I am OLD!  LOL

I like the site - thanks for sharing.  I've been wanting to dive off into the world of having my own website, but have hesitated due to the issues you mention, plus I'm not exactly a web site designer.  Looks like you used "godaddy."  How was it to set up?

It actually has the best themes etc. Chat is better than most. Oh, I'm sorry, you asked about the software didn't you?

One of the most aggravating things I have ever decided to do. I fought with them for three days.

Went looking for another, they were just as bad if not worse so I returned to GODADDY. Will probably start fighting again since they don't

have any note whatsoever saying I paid for the blasted thing.

I had a look at your website and it looks like it’s going to be a good one!

you are one year older than my mother. She lives on her own now after rearing 10 children. She enjoys her home and gardening and all of her sons and daughters keep in touch regularly. She still feels young as her brother is 92 and is looking after his unwell wife at the moment.

I’m sure there’s lots more to your story and I’d like to hear it when you put it up for us to read...

The picture of you and your brothers made me smile because I have one of myself and 5 of my brothers at a bike show but I can’t lay my hands on it at the moment. Here’s one of my brothers at a wedding a couple of years ago. There was 8 but one died in 1985.

I hope at your age that everyday is enjoyable and that you dont let business stress you out. Take care and best of luck with the website.

Ferg the website looks great. If I could offer a tiny critique.... I would work on the home page store description a little. Shorten it up some and maybe pay a little closer attention to paragraph structure.

Also, always remember, the American average readers only read at an eighth grade level. So, short and sweet is the best approach.

Good luck.

Mutt,

Two very good suggestions. I wrote that description before I decided to include a blog. I worked and argued with Web software folks so much this week I didn't finish some of my editing today.

Paragraphs: That isn't the way I laid it out. Not sure what is going to happen with that piece.

I am dismayed by the lack of basic writing, reading, understanding, knowing our history, etc. of so many folks these days. When I write something I try to use correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

Thanks for your comments. They are well taken. And, Thank you to those who have visited my post.

Fine looking group. That photo of my brothers and I was actually taken five years ago. When you get into our age group five years makes a lot of difference

although, my next younger brother and I look ten years younger the other two.  LOL

Let me share, please.

When my wife and I had our motorcycle magazine, I was talking to a big fan one day. She was in her early 50s. And she was going on and on about how great our magazine was.

(I saw her at all the events, she always asked when was the next issue coming out, etc)

As she was going on and on she suggested that maybe I should try and write an article for the magazine.

I showed her 3 articles that were written by me, in every issue.:rolleyes2:

Here's the audience we deal with. The general public pretty much run with scissors.:bike:

I would try not to cram everything on the front page.

Make a separate pages for "Featrured Products" , "About Us", "Blog" and "Contact Pages"

This is painful for me, as it is unfathomable.  I have the general believe that the human species is intelligent, even if sometimes uninformed.  However, folks are constantly refuting my perceptions.

Chain,

Tried to place situations close together until I get a feel for what I really want it to look like.

There will be several pages that is for sure.

I am also rewriting another business page of ours. Transferring Domains etc.

I think it looks great!!!

I agree ... pain in the behind. I just redid mine and used godaddy and a wordsmith template but it still took a full16 hours or so to upload everything and make changes. I rarely have much for ready sale so my site is more of a portfolio but it was still a lot of time I would rather have used to do about anything else which is why my site was down for months. I want to add more descriptions but .. I am kinda websited out so it will wait another month!  :)

@YinTx, just remember why all those goofy infomercials are on all night. Millions upon millions of people purchase that crap.
