Lionhammer Report post Posted July 3, 2018 Today I learned that I should trim my fingernails before tooling. My ring finger nail left lots of tiny impressions on the piece I was working on while holding my tools/stamps. I'm learning something new every time I work, lol. alpha2 Report post Posted July 3, 2018 A lesson we've ALL learned at one time! My little finger nail grows faster than the others. I have to watch it carefully as I tend to curl that finger under when tooling. Jeff

battlemunky Report post Posted July 22, 2018 Me: I wonder what those little tick marks are on that piece I just put 3 hrs of my life into? Also me: I forgot to cut my nails again.
Sheilajeanne Report post Posted July 22, 2018 Can you just imagine a woman trying to tool leather with artificial finger nails?? Not in a million years! When I started my nursing course, we were warned about the risks of artificial nails. They serve as a repository for all sorts of nasty bacteria, as well as being a hazard to the patient when the nurse is giving care. They can also puncture the ends of gloves, and given the nasty body fluids nurses deal with every day, you do SOOO not want that to happen!
