Pfaff 1245 or Adler 067-GK373

Recommended Posts

I can acquire either of these for $1000 CDN and for that price - (both n working order and recently serviced and set up for leather work) - the Pfaff I will need to put an old clutch motor on for now but the Adler comes with a servo so....

Which would you take?

Negotiate.

Assuming both machines are in equally good shape the Pfaff is going to cost more (clutch motor, installation time and future servo motor). Unless you are use too clutch motors remember they can be most unforgiving when it comes to speed control. There is nothing worst then having a momentary concentration lapse or a foot twitch and having your work ruined.  For that reason alone I would probably consider the Alder over the Pfaff and besides it is ready to sew. Whether either machine is the right machine is going to depend on budget (I think the price is a little high for either) and what you are mostly going to be using it for (upholstery or holsters and availability / cost of what attachments you may need). I will leave the sewing capabilities of the machines to more experienced people.

Yes,

The Pfaff needs a servo motor.  However, the 1245 uses a larger bobbin and it is a smoother machine.  I have had and sew on both a Pfaff 1245 and  a Adler 267, not a 67GK373.  The Pfaff is a better machine especially if it is a German made one IMHO.

I have to agree with Glenn. If given the choice between a Pfaff and an Adler I will take the Pfaff every time. I just find the Pfaff machines to be smoother in operation, but that's just my opinion.

I also think I we "prefer" the Pfaff but the Adler deal is now adding a sew quiet servo, speed reducer, foot kit, and lots of other extras....

Thanks all for the input so far. Stay tuned.....

With either of these choices, do you typically use the 190 system needles.

Thanks and have a good day

I believe both are 134-35 system needles.

Out of curiosity what are you going to be using the machine mostly for?

6 oz veg tan belt case/sheath products no more than three layers (3/8ths is fine) belts and some flat stuff made out of upholstery leathers.

Even harder to make a choice now that the adler deal had some extras added and i confirmed the pfaff is a class H3 C which is the third of four levels for medium duty taking needles from 120 to 160 and thus 207 thread......

no matter what setup the 67 comes with I would always choose the Pfaff. Adler 67 has an (to me) odd stitch length adjustment, the timing belt is the week part of the 67. Replacing it is a pain. So take a good look at it, if it is old brown timing belt and it is brittle / cracked stay away from it.  If I had to choose - I´d always choose the Pfaff (as long as there is no Singer in the game :blahblahblah:)  !!!

Thanks Constabulary. I have a little Singer 69K so that is covered!! I believe i am now leaning to the pfaff and will reconnect with the vendor Thursday to finalize table and motor etc.

Did you make a decision between which of the two machines would be your best choice?

Pfaff with a new servo and table!!!! Very excited and now must stop looking at machines and spent more time using them more!!!

Stand by for pics of the machine shop revised to hold all 3 machines now... pfaff 335, 1245 and Singer 96k.

Next an hopefully last will come a bih 441 clone but for now its the stitching horse for thicker pieces.
