Members Defiant1531 Posted August 22, 2018 Members Report Posted August 22, 2018 I think I have stumbled across a cb4500 special edition but I'm not sure and it is missing everything so my question is it worth buying and piecing together the rest of the parts this is all that is there Quote
garypl Posted August 22, 2018 Report Posted August 22, 2018 Guess it depends how much they are asking - if they want $300 it is a steal, but if they want $2500, not so good....somewhere in between is probably what it is worth Gary Quote Cowboy 4500, Consew 206RB-4

How hard would it be and cost effective to get the rest of the pieces to make this useable Quote
garypl Posted August 22, 2018 Report Posted August 22, 2018 I would call Toledo Bob or Solar Leather and talk with them about what is missing and how much it will cost to get it running. A new CB4500 will run $2000+ so you might be able to get a running unit for much less. They are listed in the ads up top of the page. Gary Quote Cowboy 4500, Consew 206RB-4

DonInReno Posted August 23, 2018 Report Posted August 23, 2018 (edited) Other than the handwheel what’s missing off the head? Edit: If you basically have a head minus handwheel it’s still worth $1000....replacement handwheel is something close to $200. More than one person here would buy a working 4500 head for $1500. No motors no table no wheel no belts nothing all that is there is it I'm completely new to this and don't want to dive in a spend more than I need to but a bargain is a bargain even if I turn around and re sell it it looks like it's never been used other than it has the simple leather still attached Quote
Mark842 Posted August 23, 2018 Report Posted August 23, 2018 I'd be more worried about why they stripped it down. Who would do that to a good working machine? Quote
Members dikman Posted August 23, 2018 Members Report Posted August 23, 2018 If that's ALL that's missing it's no big deal, motors and belts are readily available and you can probably buy the correct table for it (or make your own or modify a used table if you can find one). If you want to make it "original" then you should be able to buy all these bits from one of the vendors on here - but you'll have to find out the cost first to see just how much of a "bargain" you end up with. Mark, I must admit it does seem a bit odd. Quote Machines wot I have - Singer 51W59; Singer 331K4; Seiko STH-8BLD; Pfaff 335; CB4500. Chinese shoe patcher; Singer 201K (old hand crank)
