scrapyarddog Report post Posted January 11, 2019 Bought this lock and was about the install the hasp, but found out that the rivet (1/16" dia) is a lot smaller than the hole. The hole can fit a 3/32" dia rivet no problem and works well, but the supplier says in their experience 1/16" works ok too. Can anyone teach me how to set this rivet or is the rivet just too small for it's hole? Or is there a tool I need to use other than a hammer or mallet? Northmount Report post Posted January 12, 2019 Looks very difficult to get this rivet to spread enough to hold. Looks too short as well to add a bur. Need to get larger diameter rivets. Tom

scrapyarddog Report post Posted January 13, 2019 Thanks for the bad news... I might have to cut out a hasp from some brass sheets and drill holes myself
fredk Report post Posted January 13, 2019 Use a ready-rivet? Post diameter is usually 1/8" [about 3mm] and vary in length and can be cut shorter if necessary. Head diameter from about 4mm upwards. Looks like a double-head rivet of 8mm diameter heads would do the job.
