Lonestarr54 Report post Posted September 30, 2019 So the wife says she wants a tote bag made out of football leather. I know Horween makes the leather for NFL balls, but they don't sell it to the public (as far as I can tell). An internet search has turned up nothing except leather footballs and faux football leather squares not big enough for a tote. Any ideas?
HeatherAthebyne Report post Posted September 30, 2019 Rocky Mountain Leather has a listing for it, but it's currently sold out; you might get in touch and see when they anticipate new stock. https://www.rmleathersupply.com/collections/horween-usa/products/horween-nfl-football-veg-tanned-leather

YinTx Report post Posted September 30, 2019 Try Maverick leather. For sure they have the basketball leather, I imagine they have access to the football stuff too. YinTx

I have some that I purchased from Maverick years ago, but I don't see it on their website. Your best bet is to give them a call. My piece came from their scrap bin. blue duck Report post Posted October 1, 2019 You might also try contacting The Tannery Row. They are the small sales folks for Horween. I have only dealt with Shelley, but she has been great.
Lonestarr54 Report post Posted October 1, 2019 Since Rocky Mountain Leather Supply actually had a listing for the football leather, I decided to reach out to them first. Within an hour or so, I got an email back saying that they would be contacting Horween today about ordering more. They said they'd let me know when it was on it's way. Success! Thanks for all your help!
Nyckname Report post Posted October 1, 2019 Does your better half like the worn look? If so, buy used footballs, probably on ebay, cut the stitching apart, press to flatten, and sew the parts into panels. Or just take out the laces and bladder, add a zipper and strap, and viola. Rixport Report post Posted October 17, 2019 I've seen it occasionally at tanneryrow.com ... but it's been far and few between.. There's a chance that your wife might learn to hate that bag... That leather is very rough ... A friend of mine made a couple wallets out of it and it wore thru his jeans pocket... something to consider...
