Treesner Report post Posted December 9, 2021 (edited) do you know of any strap end cutters with a V or English point that has a handle that is 3/8" round. I'd like to mount it in my grommet press to cut straps quicker with a jig instead of hammering this looks like it could possibly be 3/8" waiting on seller to let me know https://www.ebay.com/itm/324754875911 also if you know of any kind of base type of thing that the has 3/8 shaft that I could use in the bottom part of the press like this https://www.weaverleathersupply.com/catalog/item-detail/65-6585/brass-anvil/pr_9197 let me know, I'll probably make something DIY though Edited December 10, 2021 by Treesner
mike02130 Report post Posted December 10, 2021 You could always grind the handle down.
koreric75 Report post Posted December 11, 2021 get with one of the die makers and see if they can make a strap end die with a 3/8" quick mount for the press.
fredk Report post Posted December 11, 2021 I just remembered that I have these cutters. Belt tip shapes. There are ten, from about 15mm to 38mm. I've not used them but other cutters I have I use under the ram on my press They cost about £10 a set, off ebay. PS, I didn't buy these, they were sent to me in error instead of what I wanted
dikman Report post Posted December 12, 2021 Is a grommet press going to have enough leverage to cut through the leather?
Treesner Report post Posted December 14, 2021 these end cutters ate 5/16 they said, just under 3/8" so would probably work https://strapwarehouse.com/handyman-accessories-end-punches/
dikman Report post Posted December 15, 2021 Yep, could work as the design looks rigid so should concentrate the downward force. Pretty expensive, though.

Treesner Report post Posted December 16, 2021 slightly different from he wood ones, maybe since its narrower it would get into the thin stuff better https://www.ivan.tw/products/craftplus-strip-ease?pr_prod_strat=copurchase&pr_rec_pid=6207456116931&pr_ref_pid=5017261637769&pr_seq=uniform
