Hi All, I'm working on a customer's vintage bag and wanted to know what this type of hardware is called. I've image searched it and nothing's coming up that's close to it. I might be able to re-use it but it's a pain in the ass to put back together. If I can't find a similar hardware, I might have to go to the Chicago screw or some type of domed screw in hardware since I'm not deconstructing the whole purse. I really don't want to make the hole larger and using a regular double rivet is also a hard task (the purse is super rigid and cracking on some interior parts). I don't have a rivet press that has a long enough arm to reach all the way to where the strap en…

I have a customer requesting several bronc nosebands, the catch is she wants them to match the style of the ones she already has. I can't seem to find conchos like these or those color dot rivets. Does anybody have ideas on where I could find something like these? Thank you so much for any input!!

I needed some #9 solid copper rivets with a overall length of 1 1/2 " for a project. I even went to a couple of Chinese manufacturers with no luck unless I wanted to order 30,000. I did find a supplier in Ontario but they are a little pricey. So my question is who makes these in North American? kgg

Hello good leather people, I am in the process of drawing out a leather purse that I intend to make. One purse that I am looking at for ideas has a gold colored metal plate on the outside with a logo on it. I wanted to know if anyone could point me to a good source for a custom plate or label that I could have initials engraved on it real fancy like. I checked etsy, saw some possibilities but I wanted to check with the experts to see if there are any other options. Thanks for reading.

Hello, I just picked up a used Weaver Little Wonder press. It has the #104 rivet setter and splash plate attachment. I need to feed it some rivets. I went to make a purchase at Weaver and they kicked my order back and apparently closed my wholesale account (after a few years of being an account holder) because they have a new wholesale program now where you must make a minimum purchase of $1,000 to qualify for wholesale prices. Well...... I'd rather not spend my money there ever again. My question is are these #104 rivets exclusive to Weaver or is there an alternative I can buy. I would also like to get a caps and a cap setter as well. Ideally I wo…

For the stallion halter project I needed some large D-rings. The D-ring on the old halter that I copied looked like it was homemade. At first I tried to search the net, but I couldn't find anything in that sort of size, so instead I made a small production run. I made a bending jig out of some old angle bar and a few bits of flatbar that was welded onto it. A piece of a pipe made sure that the rounding of the D-ring would be somewhat neat. The stainless steel is 8 mm (5/16") in diameter, and first I heated it to red-hot and bent it in a right angle. That part was inserted in the bending jig and the rest of the bending was done in the jig. I tried to heat up…

Hi all, I have started recently on the leatherwork, and I am using an standard cigarette lighter to cut the thread. By doing this the ending is not nice. What tool and technique do you suggest me to use to make these endings neat? Thank you

Found an old belt that got stuck behind something. These days I look at worn out belts and think "Hardware!" but in this instance I paid attention to the snaps holding the keeper and buckle flap in place. Last year I had bought some cheap snaps, and when I used them on a belt, the rims on the inside part of the post and socket created a gap. These snaps didn't. They're segma type snaps, but sit perfectly flush. The socket doesn't even have a rim, just a series of splits in the side to hold the socket in place, with the post fitting inside, maybe all the way into the cap. The belt snaps were also smaller diameter than I remember. Is is possible to find a snap that all…
