Bill asked me to post this little deal on stamping a rope border. I whacked this out in a couple minutes one morning. I do a lot of western things, and this rope is my most requested border. This is all done with Tandy stamps. I used the #957 rope stamp and a modified #803 beveler. I took a small circular stone on the Dremel and ground out a curve on the toe of the stamp to fit the curve of the rope border. Takes about a minute. I have attached an impression of each stamp, the linear pattern and then how I handle corners. It is pretty self explanatory. Any questions. fire away!

I have alot of old name brand (Harley Davidson,Ford,Chevy,Mustang,Colt,Browning) stamps that was given to me by another leathersmith who bought them over the counter in the 70's and 80's. I was wondering if anyone hand any first hand information on the legal rights that a stamp owner has inorder to use them on work to sale. They are not for sale!

I'm in the process of getting everything together for a 2" wide oval stamp with an outer border to stamp oval leather disks that will be stitched into the interior of my bags. I'll be getting my stamp from grey ghost graphics. The company is Walden Bags and the motto is something like "simplicity, simplicity, simplicity" or "Simplicity Through Elegance" or "Elegant Simplicity." Perhaps in Latin. Not sure I want to include anything like this in the stamp at all, but just thought I'd throw it out there. I've had three ideas for the stamp: 1. WALDEN in caps, centered and a bold outline font. I'll post the exact font later. 2. WALDEN, as in #1 above, perhaps a bit …

g'day mates (ok thats fake as im a kiwi). I need some technical assistance. I have been trying to heat emboss some leather but it either fades overnight or melt the leather. Outcome needed: embossed logo on chrome tanned leather, similar to what you see on high end luxury bags What i have tried and the outcome: Chrome leather with a chinese made handheld hot stamper. The logo is brass and connected to the hot stamper. I normally hold for about 5 seconds. I have tried relatively low heat ~80 degrees celcius, doesnt melt but also last over night only. ~200 degrees celcius will last but burns a funny colours and melts the surface of the leather. Any suggestion…

Hey all, On the post I made about the album some, one suggested that the shell stamp would make great scales for a dragon. I was thinking about it and came up with this. I started by stamping out an area with various background stamps. Then over that I did the shell stamp and the filler. Makes very cool looking scales. Now if I ever have to carve a dragon I will have something to make it different. ClayM.

This is a tutorial for a stamped belt using six stamps. After you have sized the belt draw a line on the center. Start stamping with a geometric stamp G9008-03 or a similar stamp. Always start from the end which the buckle holes will be punched (Billet End). The next stamp used is a veiner V406 which is stamped between the points of G9008-03. A border stamp D637 is stamped by filling in the center both sides. The next stamp is a figure carving stamp F922 which is stamped above D637. A seeder S932 is stamped between the veiner impressions. The last stamp is S360 stamped in the center of the pattern. This is the completed stamped belt. You can use …
