Motorcycles and Biker Gear
Not all saddlebags are on horses! Bikers like quality gear they can depend on, and making and maintaining hard used leather is a challenge to any leatherworker. Show off your work! Teach the world how leatherworkers make bikes beautiful.

Hi this is my first complete project. Well, kind of complete, because it's a set of 2 and I'm still finishing the other side up. I made these for my buddy's 100th anniversary Fatboy as a Christmas present. He said he wanted a different kind of shape to fit the lines of the bike better. I've custom painted a lot of bikes, but never made bags for any. My dad was a master at tooling leather, so I thought with a little advice from him and my expertise in packaging design, it was possible. Obviously I had no idea on the amount of work involved. My friends wife bought all the leather. I did all the work. That was the deal. They loved the end result and I think it turned out …

Hi all, This was made due Halloween and all... I had this piece of leather since I made my first bobber seat (bottom side cut off) and I felt like finally doing one of those recently trendy cool Mexican Sugar Skulls. Being not as skillful as I wish to be (yet!) I went for one of the cleaner/easier designs. I will definitely do more of these as it was so enjoyable and I will try to make it bit more challenging next time. So far it is one of my better pieces - let me know what you think.

This is a patch I am making for my son --- it isn't finished, but he wanted me to post it... This is a variation of a patch design I helped to create in collaboration with a major patch maker --- it is a copyrighted design.

The whole reason I got into leather tooling was to make a seat. Pretty impressed with my first try. I did an antique rub on the skull and dark brown dye on the rest. Then a few coats of clear.

Hello, New to the forum, though I check in now and again and learn a great deal from you folks. Leather work is not my specialty. I dabble in leather, as well as many other things. I really love to make tools and will post some awl hafts I've been working on too. Most of what I'm been doing has been for the guys over on a Classic & Vintage bicycle forum I participate in. Here's a couple of pics of some saddle bags I've made. These seams are beveled at 45 degrees and then saddle stitched. But I'm still learning. Particularly how to finish the edges of this black chrome tanned leather. Thanks for looking, Scott

So I was inspired by a user here, Fredo's, fork bag to make my own, especially since I was just using an old case my sun glasses came in. I finally finished it this weekend. I believe I used 10oz Herman Oak veg tan for it. (started it about a month ago, but worked on other stuff instead of just completing it in one go) It was my first real extensive use of stamping. Took me several tries to get the "Harley Davidson" stamped somewhat evenly. The finish is Fiebings Ox Blood with a 50/50 Resolene/Water finish. I powder coated the d-rings and buckles a transparent copper color. The original inspiration: http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=56198

Finished a pair of whaletail tank bibs for two Honda VTX1300s this weekend (two different clients, same bikes). The first one asked for the POW-MIA tooling and a pocket to hold an iPod & notepad and then asked for the Airborne wings to be added somewhere. The color & royal blue lacing he added on and ended up looking kind of cool (his bike is also painted blue). The second one is a whaletail bib with a double row of 1/4" buckstitching running down like racing stripes. Both were made with W & C 6oz, wet formed to the tank. Kangaroo for all the lacing. Golden Fluid acrylics (white & irridescent silver) were used for the colors. Both have triple loop l…
