Hi John, That looks like quality buckle you made. Im interest in casting too. I bought a small propane furnace and just lined it. All set to try melting some of the scrap Aluminum I have to get some practice sand casting. Regards Paul (in Germany)

When I rub the green stick onto the leather I find that it builds up too much thickness so that the stroping surface is not smooth but bumpy. Is that a sign of overdoing it? If I use less it seems that the green does not transfer well to the leather.

Hi All, When I was doing leatherwork 8 or 9 years ago I was ordering my thonging lace from AmazingOz because it was top quality and they provided a great service to me when I lived in the UK. Their website is no longer up. Does anyone know if they closed down, or just changed name? I'd be interested to know if there are other good alternatives of quality Kangaroo lace that I could buy from Germany. Thanks. Paul

Looks like you hit the jackpot with that hoard. It's a goldmine of useful information. Thats the problem having lots of hobbies each with a lot of tools or "stuff" associated with each. I hope we'll all be around long enough to enjoy them for a while longer.

I'm Paul, originally from the UK, lived in Manchester and Herefordshire, I now live in southern Germany on the edge of the Black Forrest region. Thanks for describing that, very interesting. I'd like to make a removeable tank cover with a soft lining, perhaps suede or microfiber cloth to protect a custom paint job when its being used for general use.

How did you manage to tool the formed leather after the wet forming? I'd have guessed the tooling would be done before forming, but then it may stretch.
