  1. If he isn't happy with it, he can't be human. I think it is great.
  2. A customer wants to know if I can make a holster in Charcoal Grey color. It isn't black, but not a regular grey, either. Has anyone done this? I have read that grey dye is a different beast than black dye and they don't play well together. Any help is appreciated.
  3. Thanks for the help. I tried denatured alcohol and it did nothing. Then I tried Acetone. That removed stuff. I cleaned as much of the outside as I could, then soaked the holster in vinegaroon. There are some spots on the back that aren't black, so I will try to darken those. The holster is still quite stiff, but the inside is a nice black color. I'm not sure what will happen when I try to apply the final finish of Resolene.
  4. What do you mean by that?
  5. I have a holster that got a really messed up dye problem after I put the Resolene on and the only way to salvage it is to dunk it in Vinegaroon. What is the best way to get rid of the Resolene so I can dye this thing black?
  6. Good luck in your endeavor. If I still lived in So Cal, I might be interested, but I have no desire to move back to CA.
  7. Question on the baking soda. When I used it, I got little white specks that I didn't like so I stopped using it. My water is 8.5 ph and I have been depending on that to stop any reaction. Am I ok, or should I go back to the baking soda?
  8. I have a request for a Kahr MK9 holster. I have a PM9 blue gun. There are slight differences that I can see comparing pictures from the Kahr website. 1. The PM9 is .12 inches longer 2. The MK9 is contoured just ahead of the trigger guard while the PM9 is straight. Has anyone used the PM9 for this gun, or do you know of a source for a dummy? I couldn't find one, but there were indications that Duncan at one time had one, but it wasn't on my list of their current inventory.
  9. Is there a dummy gun for the Beretta 92A1? I haven't found one with an online search.
  10. I've never yet been able to un dye something.
  11. No. Only the semi-auto ones and high capacity mags. The rest of the blue guns will be fine.
  12. Ouch, and those dull needles hurt like heck when that happens.
  13. I hand stitch mine as well. It is a floater, but held pretty tight by the screws at the buckle end.
  14. Thanks for the responses. So far, the paint stick is the one I will try first.
  15. Outstanding work. On a side note, how do you get the belt to stay coiled like that?
  16. A customer put in an order for a Springfield Champion 1911 with 4" barrel. I can use the Colt Commander for it, so he paid for the order. Now he is asking for it to be made with a rail. I haven't started it yet. So far I haven't found a 4" 1911 with a rail. Has anyone here made a holster for a 4" 1911 with a rail? If so, what did you use for the mold? Customer is out of state, so real gun is not an option.
  17. I used the Springfield MIcro Compact 1911 to make a 2 holsters for the UC. The new owners said it fit just fine. I also took it to a gun store and compared it to the UC. I couldn't see any difference other than the UC has the safety only on one side.
  18. I used an Xacto fine toothed saw to cut the safety off on my 3" 1911, then JB Weld to re-attach it.
  19. Weldwood has a water based contact cement product but I haven't tried it. The local hardware store only has the one quart can and I haven't wanted to spend the money to get something that might not work. I've asked before, and no one here has used it.
  20. They look good. It's good to go with what the customer asks for, unless it won't work and will result in a poor product.
  21. I use the Tandy snaps. They have a 5/16 inch post. I also use a setter with a deep hole and tap on the post first after I put the snap into the strap. This pushes the leather down onto the snap. Then I use the regular line 24 setting tool to attach the two pieces together. I got some other line 24 snaps and didn't like them a bit. I don't know the brand. I got it online.
  22. It does cost more, but I bought my last magazine so I could load it for making mag holders. Unlike a blue one, if I didn't want it anymore, I could always sell it since it would still be in a new condition.
  23. If you have a knife, make a sheath for it. You will learn things by it. I've made two, and will soon make a third, better one for the same knife. Visit some knife making websites and look at their work.
  24. I looked into it and decided I couldn't afford to do it.
