I just inherited a hair on horse hide that's 60+ years old and has probably spent the last 40 years in storage somewhere. What are some ways that I can clean up and preserve the hair side? The hair is 2 to 5 inches in length, and has been vacuumed gently. Hair feels dry to the touch. What would you use on the flesh side to preserve it for another 60+ years? Has a fair amount of flexibility and folds without complaint or cracking, but very dry and brittle for about an inch in on the edges. Pictures to come.

Those are some good clean curves. Be humble if you want, you're still in the "show off" section -
Looking forward to seeing this one finished.

The gear pattern on the shoulder pieces is a creative look, is it some type of stencil work?

Leaf Pouch

I'm not sure that takes away too much from the overall design. Right now it looks very organic, smoothing things out much more might take away some of the leafy feel. You might try making a button out of a small stick piece, it might work well with your design. -

Brick And Mortar Required
Studio Apocalypse replied to Studio Apocalypse's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
Business/Tax License requirements are to be expected, even minimum purchase requirements are common enough; but it seems like wholesalers would have a waiver if they just wanted to keep people from reselling their product at lower prices. Requiring a storefront seems like it hurts a wholesaler more than it helps them... @ Zack White Leather Company: Thanks for the info, I will certainly be taking a look at what you have to offer. @ Bruce: Thanks for sharing your experience. Looking at products by individual market saturation might help me pick up a few things otherwise unavailable. -
Brick And Mortar Required

@ The mods: I see my post moved... did I break a rule? If so sorry. @ Randy: Did they end up granting you an account? -
I've come across many suppliers for accessory items that require their wholesale customers to have a "Brick and Mortar" store. As much as I'd love to have my own storefront it's not realistic for my business model at this time. Has anyone in the community had luck getting any wholesale distributors to drop this requirement?

Just looked at your store on Etsy, the set of five journals is awesome.

Nice work:) Tips: Looks like the holes punched on the cuff are getting close to the edge. To keep space between the edge and the holes from shrinking I'd recommend waiting until you've finished stamping before you punch your holes. If you're worried about the holes ripping you can always go back and add grommets to reinforce them. I like to start the lace near the upper arm and end near the wrist; that way if you don't have anyone to help you lace up, you can use your other set of fingers to help tie a bow or knot.
