If I find anything I will let you know. It sure seems like there should be someone who makes them for a reasonable price.

I know I watch feedback like a hawk when I am going to order from someone on EBAY.

I havent seen it yet but I do know she wheres it in an ankle type sheath right now and that gets in the way of her Irish dancing. lol. I was hoping to get an idea of what a leg/garter sheath looked like before I see it. Ellen

Hi, I have someone interested in having me make a knife sheath she can wear on her thigh. She is in an Irish Folk band so it would be ornamental mostly. I looked in the forums but didnt find anything. Would greatly appreciate being steered in the right direction. Thanks, Ellen

Hi all, Is there a website that offers a variety of rivet designs? I happened across some vintage rivets on EBAY that had a star on them but can't seem to find anymore kinds. It seems like someone must make them but I can't find them Examples of designs I like might be hearts, flowers, smilie faces....I have looked at conchos but small ones (dime size) are few and expensive. THanks for your help! I really appreciate all you guys do here. Ellen

Yes this helps a ton. Thank you so much. The kind he has is the last one. I was not able to find a good picture of how it attaches to the instrument. Ellen

Hi all, I have a friend that is in the Mid-America Airforce Band and he asked me to make a shoulder strap for his tuba. The type he has at present is just a 1 1/2" strip and there is not much to it. I would really like to make something that would make holding the tuba a bit more comfortable. Also, evidently he has had his strap snap during a performance before and his tuba hit the floor (it weighs about 40lbs). So something pretty strong is a must.It attaches to the tuba by wrapping around the bottom tube thingy and a tube thingy near the top. I'm not sure how it fastens. He wants me to tool the leather with a design so latigo is out, right? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all you do here. I don't post often but I am constantly checking in on topics to learn whatever I can and I have learned tons from you guys. Ellen

Nature's miracle would definitely be the best bet. She can purchase it at Petco or Petsmart. It is an enzyme that breaks down the urine and removes the smell. The sooner she can treat the boots with it the better. When they completely dry out it will be less likely to do the job. I would saturate them with it at full strength and let them dry.

lol I will be rooting for the bear -
Hi all, I felt the need to report in to you about my trip to St. Louis today. I went to S-T Leather mostly to check it out and see how the prices and selection compared to EBAY or Tandy. Let me just say there was no comparison. For example, I purchased a 3/4 " alphabet stamp set for around $18 (never seen it on EBAY for less than $30) and a multi-size strap end punch for around $20. 50 yards of latigo lace was only about $18. The place is set up like a warehouse so you can't really browse but they have a very nice catalogue. I would locate what I wanted in it and the young man who was helping me would go get it. They don't have online sales which is a pain but I imagine that is one way they keep their prices so low. You can call in an order or fax it to them though. to Tina, who recommended this store. Ellen

What Is A Good Beginner Machine?
funnygirl62221 replied to funnygirl62221's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Sigh...I read through more of the forums about sewing machines...all I can say is nevermind...hehe...I wasn't looking at the right kind on Ebay. I realize the ones for leather are at least twice that and prolly more. Maybe next year's tax return? Ellen -
Hi all, I have been looking on EBAY at some of the old industrial machines that have been reconditioned. Looks like I may be able to get one for around $150 with free shipping. Is there a brand you recommend? or is it a bad idea to get an old used one from the 50's or 60's? Thx, Ellen

Is vinegaroon hard to make? Sound pretty cool. Are there any examples on the site I could look at? Thx :D Ellen -
Wow! I just looked at their prices. I happen to live just across the river from St. Louis...20 minutes according to Yahoo Maps. I'm going to head over to S-T Leather this weekend! Thanks a ton, Ellen

funnygirl62221 replied to calanneh's topic in How Do I Do That?
I've had good luck with using Gum Tracanth. Just apply a liberal amount, smooth the fuzzies down and let it dry. :D -
Brilliant! Jeez I can't believe I didnt think of that lol. thx a bunch Ellen

Hi! An American Indian friend wants me to make her a belt for pow wow's she participates in. Her family animal is the beaver. I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions for where to get a beaver stamping tool (I found one on ebay but was outbid ). I found a rubber stamp of a beaver paw but I don't know how well acrylic would wear on a belt or if a stamp would even work. Thanks muchly for any advice. Ellen

Thanks for your response, Ray. I can see why people wouldn't want to share their designs after reading the forum links you posted here. Especially after spending years perfecting them. I think I was being a bit naive about it all. In my mind I was thinking of very simple "how to" instructions with some pointers for newbies but I realize now that that can be a pretty thankless endeavor if people don't even appreciate the time and effort it takes to teach them the craft. Anyway I really appreciate what I have learned here pouring over the forums for information. Thanks again. Ellen Yikes! thanks Denise. I didn't see that post.
