  1. Really nice! What types of sewing machines do you use to make them?
  2. I like the ideas! Even the leather (sCraps) idea too. I have an embosser so I could gold emboss on a box. Size: 2 inches high. 6in X 8in should accommodate most holsters.
  3. I wanted to get some ideas from you guys on what you do/use to package or deliver your finished goods. I mostly make holsters and belts and and when someone picks up the holster I usually just hand them the finished product. I feel as if perception is everything and if someone takes delivery of a $200 holster it should be wrapped, covered, bagged....something! Even a $10 watch in walmart has a box! There has to be a reasonably priced packaging that is rustic enough to sport a holster or belt. Let the ideas flow, what do you use?
  4. Cool idea! Where do you buy the plastic paddles?
  5. Private party harvested this 11ft gator in TX on a guided hunt. I bought it and a tan colored 7ft from the same hunter. He tanned the hides and never did anything with them until he sold them to me. Now they will become holsters. Thanks Denster. All your encouraging words and the rest practice!
  6. Simply awesome! You have to tell us what it brings!
  7. I sucked it up and bought some American alligator. I put some to the test on this 1911 rig. Wow, looks better on the holster than it did on the beast! Fun stuff!
  8. Makes me want to try one. Would love to see and back and side view! Imitation is the highest form of compliment! You are an artist!
  9. I dremel the entire stitch line with a cutting wheel. (It smokes and smells) ) I take it down just enough to flatten the calcium beads. Be careful not to hit the leather! I machine stitch. Thanks!
  10. Working with stingray takes some practice and a small learning curve. This particular piece has very large calcium beads. I have commented on previous threads but will mention again that it is best to dremel your stitch lines so they look straight. Your needle will otherwise divert and look sloppy. It is a bit larger because the customer wanted a badge holder but fit and function are there for this style. Feel free to comment.
  11. Looking for a naumkeg with or without working motor. I have a finisher that is missing the naumkeg and I would like to make it complete. Send me a pic and a price. rob@cobalttn Rob
  12. This is a model 64 that will embosser a makers mark on leather or hot foil emboss on your craft. Works perfectly, needs nothing. This is a pedestal mount. It can do suitcases or brief cases with the pedestal mount. Call Rob at 615-482-7233 or email rob@cobalttn.com. It is large and heavy (100lbs) prefer a local pick up as it would be a challenge to ship but am open to suggestions. $750.

  15. I think I understand you. This is a mold method. You are not going to get the same results trying to do this by hand. When you use a block of wood simulating the phone and then having another block of wood with a hole cut out just larger than simulated phone, (allowing for the weight of leather you are using) Case the leather, set on top of your simulated phone, press the leather between both pieces of wood, and clamp 'til dry. Glue the edges, stitch then trim the excess. Leave enough leather to fit under your presser foot on sewing machine unless you are hand stitching. It makes for nice clean lines. Anyone have a estimate of what I could sell these for? Rob
  16. I was not sure that it would fit properly since the tandy kit is made for multiple size phones. If you have the iphone 4 let us know how it fits! Ok, I'm lazy too and do not want to hand stitch. They are usually pre-punched stitching holes. Is this one?
  17. Well, I know this is quite simple but I could not find one to copy from for my new iphone 4 so I made it. I traced out the phone in a block of wood, cut it out then sanded smooth. Then cut out a ring to fit over the mold allowing a 7-8 oz leather to fit around the mold. (it was the only leather I had, I make gun holsters and belts) I let is sit overnight to dry. I noticed a little mildew on the leather for the first time ever. (did I wet the leather too much) No biggie I was going to dye it any way. I lined the front side so back of snap would not touch the phone glass. Stamped, Stitched, dyed, finished.
  18. I could never wear it! I would just have to put it on top of my TV and stare at it all day. Call the Smithsonian, that's where it belongs. Unbelievable!
  19. Will sell for $675 plus shipping. Call Rob at 615-482-7233 or email Rob@cobaltt.com Those of you that know these machines, know that these are tough to find, especially as pretty as this one. In fact, I have never seen one quite like this one before.
  20. Thanks, I will check those. Yes the manuals for these machines are terrible! )
