How do you upload to the big gallery?

"Neck Corset" or "Posture collar" in corset style. The 6oz leather makes it stiff, so I sure could feel the "posture" part. It laces up at 3 places through eyelets, making it necessary to have someone else do the final lacing for you. Some people like that, though. http://picasaweb.google.com/mr.mulington.the.3rd/Leatherwork#5474801930414308850 Click through if you want to see all 7 pictures Let me tell you, it's hard to photograph your own neck! haha

Celtic cross - a close up view

I will post when it is done - hubby is the one constructing it. It's going to be a waist cincher with belts in the front. The circle in the center will be at the middle of the lady's back. I drew out half of it free hand, straightened some of the parralell lines, then used a lightbox and markers to make the other half exactly the same. It took 4 sheets of paper taped together! Then that went on the tracing paper, then finally unto the leather - then the three hours of painting. That's how I laid it out with very few mistakes. There are a few places that don't look quite the mirror image but it's all good.

Twitter - Marketing Tool Or Waste Of Time?
Penden replied to UKRay's topic in Marketing and Advertising
It can depend on your customer base, but I gotta tell you that within a week of joining twitter and randomly following people who showed up in my relevant searches I've made two sales through twitter. At the same time I joined etsy to provide a professional looking storefront, and soon after I joined a forum type deal that I found out about through the twitter people I was meeting. I have a lot of views on etsy showing me that lots of people have followed my links and/or found me through the etsy search. It's good not to get TOO personal but at the same time people don't like to think that you are there "just" to sell your stuff. If your posts could just as easily be made by a robot then you are not going about it the right way. They like to see that you are a real person. So I do respond to people in a personal way, like if they say that they are having a bad day, I let them know that I hope they feel better - and I do hope that! But for most of what I post that is not a response to any one, it's about my work like in progress and final product pictures. And I don't just post the link for the sole purpose of expecting them to buy, I ask them for opinions and I really do want their opinions. It can really depend on what you are selling. If you are selling saddles I think twitter would not work so well. You could sure find lots of people who love horses but what about people who actually HAVE horses? You could have trouble finding people who are actually interested in buying your product rather than just looking at it and wishing they had a horse. (I fall into that later category myself LOL). In contrast the stuff I sell doesn't require that you already have special equipment, just that you have an interest in it. For selling saddles on the internet, you'd probably have to look at specialty forums where everyone owns a farm or something. Picture your typical customer/the customer you want to sell to. Now picture one or two different kinds of people who are internet-savvy... Do they match your customer base? If so, you might give twitter a shot. My crowd is generally younger or at least internet savvy and they love the celtic knotwork I do. Hope that helps! -
http://picasaweb.goo...552525418291490 Shown here painted in black dye, about 35 inches across The piece isn't finished yet, but the knot is. It took 3 hrs just to paint! but I loved every minute of it <3

You know, I did have that problem with a longer one. I might see what I can do about that but if it's a bracelet it might not be a problem

The first one is my favorite, but then I am a sucker for those celtic knots <3

I love the effect you got with the green!

I think braided leather with multiple strands would look fine and be strong enough. If it's not, you could always go to kangaroo leather The 3 strand magic braids I've tried did seem to be weaker so I don't recommend that for leashes. The strands do not interlock as much as they would on a round braid. To get my cuts even I mark the back of the leather with a pen and cut from the back.
-
Thank you it is easy to replicate. Just lay your colors in pairs aabbcc then take the right most strand and take it to the left over two, under two, over one.

I was messing around and ended up with this pattern. What do ya think? http://twitpic.com/1lih2n

Thanks, guys, this helps us at least know that it's not just something we're doing wrong when we are trying to use this thing

Hope everything is ok

The paints you buy at a leather store like tandy's are just acrylic paints so you paint with them just the same as you would on anything else, except I've found that I need more coats than I would on a canvas. Acrylics do have different properties though so some of them might not work as well on leather as far as how they look or how many coats are needed. I haven't tried these out myself yet but I saw some awesome leather masks that were painted with this and then finished in resolene or something similar: colorfast Liquitex acrylics Tell me how it works out because I want to try these paints as soon as I run out of what I've got already

I also love the red, but I love the others too

here's hoping for a speedy recovery

We just bought a delta grinder (6") to help us finish edges faster http://www4.shopping.com/xPO-Delta-Delta-GR275-6-Variable-Speed-Grinder-W-Tool-Less-Quick-Change We put a soft cloth buffing wheel on it. Problem is, it just doesn't do the job even with liberal amounts of saddle soap and water applied directly to the leather. I think the wheel is just too soft. Obviously the grinding wheels are not soft enough. Is there anything we can do about this or is this machine just not going to work for edge finishing?

Thanks! I was very happy with how yellow it turned out
