Belt
royslsbry replied to royslsbry's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Thanks, The blue is out of a bottle. I got it at Walmart. The white is from a paint pen. The belt was made to match my son's blue sets in his Champion Calf riding buckle and his hat band is the same color. -

Here is the first frame I ever did. This my son at the rodeo I know its not him calf riding which was in it but my wife liked this pic better.

The pic frame just stands up. But you cold tack a hook on the back to hang it. What I did was took a premade wood frame that you buy at Family dollar for a buck .Glued the leather to the frame and then cut the edges to fit and then took my razor knife and turned it at an angle and followed the edge of the frame at a slant. I could probably do a little more in the back ground but I make these fast ( right at an hour) and sell them for $35.00. I try to keep it simple and fast to make it worth my time and make them reasonable to sell. I put your name on the frame if someone wants it. I sell them at the rodeo and do all the events mutton bustin, bull riding, barrel racing, goat tying, shoot doggin and pole bending and so far every one likes them. I had to come up with something since the economy got slow and every parent will turn loose $35.00 for frame especially with their kid's name on it and event.

I didn't really spend much time on this less than an hour and didn't really give much thought to it. I do appreciate the advice. I haven't been carving over a month. I mostly make rodeo chaps and I just basket weave and stamp Initials on the yokes.I just recently got interested in carving. I'll take any advice I can get. Thanks.

Son's Calf Riding Chaps
royslsbry replied to royslsbry's topic in Clothing, Jackets, Vests and Chaps
Thanks. He's always been quite the hand. We live in N.C. where J B Mauney and Brian Canter grew up. They were teenagers when he started riding sheep. By watching them ride steers and bulls and seeing where they are at now has influenced him. One day I believe he'll be the next great PBR rider from N.C. So keep a eye on the TV for him and maybe I'll be there making chaps for the PBR riders then. He could really use some sponsors if anyone is interested.. -

Son's Calf Riding Chaps
royslsbry replied to royslsbry's topic in Clothing, Jackets, Vests and Chaps
He did ride out and won sat also. He is perfect no buck offs for the season at this rodeo and the finals is in 2 weeks so no one can catch him. Hes going to be this years calf riding champion. And he is also leading in the all around and no one can catch him so he'll be the 2010 junior all around cowboy. For every rodeo association he rides he's in the 1st place. He has bucked 50 calves for this year and only has bucked off 8 head. So he really deserved those chaps. I'm very proud of him. -
Son's Calf Riding Chaps

thanks -
Here some chaps I just finished for my son. I worked all day yesterday to finish them. He had his old ones stomped off of him this week. So I rushed to make a new pair for last nights rodeo, but I was unable to finish them. He begged me to take them to the rodeo and finish them on the tail gate of the truck. He had to wear some old ones that were to short, and was very unhappy about that, but he did win the calf riding last night. He is in first place for the season and hasn't had a buck off this year at this rodeo. He needs some sponsors if anyone is interested. He is very happy he is going to get to wear his new ones tonight hope he wins tonight also. This is the first thing I have posted here hope you all like them.
