A bit over $US35. Plus $US40 per cubic meter shipping, Unloading, Customs, Tax, Freight to me. Then each machine needs to be unboxed, assembled, modified, tested and repacked with tool kit and instructions. There are also financing and warehouse costs not to mention the cost of actually selling them. No adjustments are needed on the machines I sell because it has already been done and every machine tested on 6mm of leather. I also offer two years warranty as well as ongoing backup and support. You can buy one on Aliexpress for about $US140 delivered with no kit, useless instructions and no warranty or backup. Good luck. Johan, the direct from China one is cheap (and nasty) where I consider my offering to be inexpensive.

Don't think any combination of feet would cause this problem! There is a major issue with the top threading! -

Beware Sewing Machine Sales In Qld
Anne Bonnys Locker replied to Leatherbaron's topic in Sewing Leather
Hi Jim, glad you are hanging around here. I know you have been very unwell and sorry to hear abut the missus as well. If you were not around to defend yourself I was going to step in as I know you and believe you wouldn't let someone down unless there was a bloody good reason. Stay well friend. -

The GN1 series is the generic numbering system for Chinese clones of the Singer 81k series. I really cannot see any leather application for one. Have you paid yet? If not tell the seller that he is a crook for selling this as a leather machine and that you are going to report him to ebay and every other site he sells on. -
Wow, Buying A Collection Of Machines!
Anne Bonnys Locker replied to Anne Bonnys Locker's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Pfaff 335-17B-H2L is already up, running and listed on ebay! Singer 29k13 is in fairly good nick and sews a treat Seven stitches to the inch at the moment on 4mm of leather but I have not played with anything yet. Singer 19-10 feed up the arm zig-zag machine. Already sold and just wauiting for a new shuttle from the UK Singer 18-2. Completes the set as I already have a 17-1 and 17-8. Needs a good clean but not sure if anyone will want it! Singer 81KSV9 circular chain stitcher. Apparently this is a powderpuff making machine. There is another one based on the Singer 24 but I don't have it yet 119W1 Decorative hemstitch machine 112W146 For (and I quote from Singer) "for Vamping, Foxing, Space Stitching, Tipping etc." 17W13 - One thing to remember about Singer is that the numbering system is confusing and a 17W has nothing to do with the 17- family! For making eyelets and flat stitch embroidery. As it is a "W" model it came from the Wheeler and Wilson factory and the faceplate has a strong resemblance to the W&W No9 112W140 Twin needle compound feed. Someone has added an external setup that looks like a top looper. Will post picks later in the week. Standard button sewer. Union Special feed up the arm twin needle chain stitch. Obviously most of these machines have no leather application but I thought some of you here would appreciate knowing some of the weird and wonderful things that still exist. Pictures can be seen on the parts charts but my business partner will be doing some serious photography next week. I have not picked up the Puritan yet but it looks like an OS36 -

Consew/seiko Tf-6 Bobbin Thread
Anne Bonnys Locker replied to davidsharpe's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I have a long beak shuttle in front of me. The 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19 series from Singer share a lot of components and there are versions of all the above that use this shuttle.. When you open the shuttle to put the bobbin in the thread needs to be inside the hinged section so you can slip it into the tension spring. Take the shuttle out completely so you can see the workings better. -
Compound feed, cylinder bed machine. New 1425RPM 240V motor, new base, bobbin winder and thread stand. I have cut a top out of an older one and there is a U shaped cutout to allow access for bulky items. 12 months warranty on new parts and six months warranty on machine head. $1350 - currently listed on evilbay for $1495. Bobbin Thread Loose And Bunching
Anne Bonnys Locker replied to Pinsplitter's topic in Sewing Leather
Before you do anything please five the bottom end a thorough clean! -
Hi Bob, I have seen a number of old 45k25's with a 'knob' on the balance wheel to run the machine as a hand crank. The only thing I have seen in production is normally sold to be attached to steering wheels and sometimes offer the option to beginners who don't want to spend a lot of money and are intimidated by electric machines.

Clutch Motor Bogging Down On Skiving Machine ?
Anne Bonnys Locker replied to CustomDoug's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
A 4 pole motor runs at 1425RPM and a two pole at 2850RPM. 400W should be enough for a skiver but in the past they used fixed speed motors not clutch motors. The high speed motor should work but they are what is called a PSC - Permanent Split Capacitor - so if the capacitor is dead it may have trouble putting out any grunt. In a previous life I used to modify 315W motors to 420W simply by changing from a 15mf capacitor to 20mf capacitor. Not all motors can be modified this way! -
I have a transverse feed singer 119 series but it is only a short arm. Cowboy does offer one.

Call Lefflers in Melbourne. There was a machine of the type you want sitting in their warehouse. It is owned by a customer and he might have taken it back now but they can put you in touch with him. He wanted $3000 but that was a year ago.

billymac814 has hit the nail on the head! Anything before the 29k58 is a potential disaster if the bottom end is worn. From the 29k58 on you can get replacements for the bottom end but once the older machines are worn they are a lovely doorstop.

Beware Sewing Machine Sales In Qld
Anne Bonnys Locker replied to Leatherbaron's topic in Sewing Leather
Did you buy this from Jim? -
A 31-20 or 31-15 might be a good place to get started and learn the art of sewing for a minimal outlay.
-
I have posted this information before but people keep asking the same question so I will give the information again. If you have a GB2972 and it does not work then there are a number of parts that need to be replaced: Shuttle retainer spring needle plate. On some machines you may have to drill the hole in the replacement plate out to 6.5mm needle bar spring. shuttle - or at the very least the tension spring While you are doing these things look for metal shavings and sharp edges in the needle bar and needle clamp area. These machines are poorly built and I hate working on them but with a bit of effort you will eventually get them working. A better idea is to contact the dealers here as they will deliver a working machine!

Is This One Worth A Look?
Anne Bonnys Locker replied to South Forty's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
The 31 series are very solid machines and the 31-47 is a walking foot version. If the price is below $300 then it is a great machine for lighter work and also a wonderfully easy machine to pull apart and learn how machines work. It will easily sew 1/4" leather with #138 so this is a great machine for light work. Every workshop needs a range of machines and even Wiz who promotes the 441 style will tell you that a 31 is part of his workshop. -

Consew/seiko Tf-6 Bobbin Thread
Anne Bonnys Locker replied to davidsharpe's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
The machine is a clone of the old Singer 18 series which was also built for Singer by Seiko and became the TF. The right hand version is the 17 or TE. Many Chinese machines leave the factory poorly set up and need retiming. Are you running it the right way? -
KABOOM - Oh Shit..... Just wait until I design the bobbinless lock stitch machine.........
-
The dealers and experts here are all trying to say the same thing: If in doubt - beware! If you know your way around a machine and are only looking at light usage then a dodgy machine might be ok. There are times I have paid $20 for a Chinese machine head hoping to use it for parts and found that I have paid $30 too much.
