  1. There's a guy currently on eBay selling clicked out sets for $15 + shipping. Has a couple of different styles. There was another leathercraft guy a few years ago who used to sell the clicked out parts, to include basic buckles, on eBay for approx $20 if I remember correctly.
  2. Sounds like me. I'm doing the same in a 39' 5th wheel bunkroom edition. It seems like every square inch is critical, as well as watching the weight.
  3. Warpe: I gave a machinist the two pieces of Weaver's tools and they cut them on a lathe. We then removed all the miscellaneous pieces off the shafts of the grinder and mounted the burnishers. We balanced them and they've worked like a champ for the last 5-6 years we've had them.
  4. This is what I use. Spins at 3600 rpms. Pieces are made from stainless steel and were modeled from Weaver's #9 and the wood burnisher off of Weaver's set up. I use it with water and saddle soap (bar). I also use it to smooth the edges of our kydex clips. This is the result I get (with very little effort):
  5. I'm looking for someone to draw a floral/sheridan type pattern on a somewhat odd-shaped piece approximately 7 1/2" x 8 1/2". I have zero skill in this area. If interested, please contact me. Easiest way is through email - kevin ((AT)) kdholsters ((DOT)) com. Phone would be second means - 813.659.3456. Thank you for your interest.

  7. Thanks for the comments everyone. jestermg: The lettering on the whiskey flask was done with laser engraving.
  8. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inlays_and_onlays_(bookbinding) For some reason the link does not link directly to the respective section. However, you can find the section in wikipedia within that link that pertains to inlay on leather. YMMV
  9. Shooter: In my opinion, what you show in your pictures is more in line with a filagree type of work. A lot of people, IMO, incorrectly call the filagree work an inlay. JohnBarton shows the way a true inlay of a skin should be done. In essence, you're bringing the exotic skin up to the same level as the top grain of the leather. Here's an example of an overlay that I've done, which is beaver tail btw: An example of an inlay: Chuck Burrows shows in his knife sheath dvd how to do the inlay. I also have one of those tear-off sheets that I picked up from Leather Factory, which shows how to do the inlay. You might check with a local LF to see if they have one. If not, you're welcome to borrow mine.
  10. stealfdawg: Sorry to hear about the fire. Don't know what all you lost, but I've got a bunch of craftools, swivel knives, and some other misc stuff. You're welcome to come up and pick out anything you want. I'm just up the road from you on I-65, next to Mammoth Cave Nat'l Park. Give me a shout if you want any of it.
  11. If you haven't already, I suggest you let Tony at the Leather Factory store in Tampa know you have it for sale. I sold one of mine due to a referral from him. Good luck on the sale.
  12. Killzone2kX: I'm parked in my RV for the summer just down I-65 from you at Mammoth Cave Nat'l Park. I'd be more than happy to show you how I do things in ways that might help you. You're more than welcome to come down. Give me a shout if you're interested.
