    Free - Mauls

FREE. No longer have any interest in these Mauls. Made by Ed, Bear Man. The first set available is a two-maul set. Small maul is 10 oz, large maul is 16 oz. Handle material is afzelia burl. Comes with a two maul holder. Dye transfer from the wood stand is on both mauls. Approximately 1 1/2 years old. Next one is a 28 oz stamping maul. New, never been used. Has USN emblem embedded. Handle material is brazilian rosewood. First come, first serve basis, one set per person. To get whichever one you want, please call me at our shop. The number is 813-659-3456.
  4. I use it all the time. There are different "textures" from different parts of the body. The main body is the most common form seen. Personally, I like the trunk and tail textures much more. The one pictured has elephant trunk.
  5. The two edge slickers are sold.
  6. Groups 3, 4, and 5 are still available, as well as the edge slickers. In addition, I'll be adding a set of saddle patterns/books soon (after I can get a picture of the grouping). Thanks for your interest.
  7. Laser engraving is, IMO, an awesome tool. It opens up a great number of opportunities to apply artwork to the leather. I've had a number of items laser-engraved. One of the big advantages is the detail achieved in comparison to traditional tooling. Depending on the subject, you just cannot get the same level of detail with traditional tooling. Another thing I like about the laser engraving is being able to laser directly onto oil tan, chrome tan, and other similar leathers. For the most part you're only limited by your imagination and the talent of the programmer/engraver running the machine.
  8. Hardly an opinion on my part. My statements are based on real world experience of having used the BOSS. Folks reading this will just have to decide for themselves what the BOSS is capable of doing.
  9. I'd like to see that being done on a BOSS. That's one stitch per second being cranked out on it. Maybe Popeye after downing a can of spinach could do that I guess. Particle: The price you list is what I've seen for an average price for a tooled belt. Most folks determine a per inch price for tooled work and then price accordingly.
  10. That's faster than I can do it with a powered machine.
  11. Bet it took some time stitching those on that BOSS.
  12. Duncan's has had the D-frame on their list from time to time. They also had an L-frame offered for a while. You would definitely get it quicker by shopping at a gun show/auction. If it's just a one-time deal, put a thread up on those Texas gun forums and see if there's anyone near you who would let you borrow one.

  16. If someone could get me a tri-bolt set up, I know a couple of machinists who could probably make them for me. Thanks for the other suggestions on where to get the patterns.
  17. That's exactly how I did it. I also bought their table/stand when I bought the clicker. I would just slide the "back" of leather with the die on top in between the top and bottom plates, hit the buttons on the side, and then pull the leather/die out after it cut it. It's a very simple, straightforward operation in that respect. I cut anywhere from 3/4 oz to 13/14 oz with it. I also cut/clicked out kydex pieces. Feel free to call me if you have any questions. You can reach me at our shop: 813 - 659 - 3456 (we're in FL).
  18. I used one nearly every day for about 7 years. Never had a problem with it. Ran it off an upright air compressor, 30 gallon. Never had the air regulator. Cut/clicked out thousands of pieces. As Art mentioned, it's one heavy piece of equipment. We moved ours around, when needed, with an engine lift. Recently sold mine to a holster maker in MO. Would buy another without hesitation.
  19. Groups 1, 6 and 7 are sold! Thank you.
  20. Groups 2 and 8 are sold! Thanks, folks.

  22. Moe: You'll find that the beaver tail is an extremely durable skin. The "pattern" of the tail also gives a nice contrast to smooth leather. It's also very pliable and easy to mold into shape.
  23. I use it all the time. It's easy to work with. As you probably already have seen, in most instances the tail is a bit thicker at the base in comparison to out at the end. So depending on the application, that may cause an issue for you. Here's a sample of a holster I did with beaver tail:
  24. Thanks for that information - greatly appreciated.
