  10. Thanks Wiz. you have the details and knowledge of these machines,I guess more where or what I'm asking is how people feel about their choice, NOT as much brand of machine, but ?? if you are a holster maker is a Addler 205 or 441 clone a acceptable choice or the campbell the only choice? a tack or harness repair shop/custom builder,, what works best for them Addler 205 or clone and maybe not as much a saddle builder, as a saddler repair shop both english and western whats the best fit??? AND WHY??? I'm personally leaning to the Addler 205, more the campbell but looking for experience and feed back as to pro and cons of the choices
  11. while asking many questions ??,,,searching,,,endlessly many or which have been asked, repeatedly about sewing ? Various machines and looking for a quality end product. the 441 clones lead the list for $ spent vs value IMHO. what about work space, and easy of use, and if using a shorter arm machine ADVANTAGES OR DISADVAVTAGES of the short throat over the really long Holsters, tack repair and construction, saddle building ,,which fits most or least with 277 and larger thread Campbells 9" throat,,, best stitch,,,,, pricey but not out of budget Union lockstich 8-12"?? faster speed and stitch quality 441 clones 9"--- to the 25" arms good all around workhorse trying to make a smart choice to do, heavier work and not waste $ with a poor choice and end up with one of everything,,,, I have a consew 227 and singer 211/166 for the lighter duties and seem to be PUSHING it to the limit more than I should,,,,

  17. I 've been wondering???? Very dangerous...... What machine would be best or an all around choice to sew heavier threads 207 being the lightest and up to or including some cords main thought for application,, A, Holster making,,,heavier thread 346 + for appearance as well as quality construction B. Tack repair, saddle construction Flat bed vs Cylinder or convertible needle awl or heavy lock stich or ?? C. Possible harness repair,,traces hames, on occasions PRIMARY interest A+B I currently have a consew 227R ,, singer 211A166AA a beast singer 145W304 , 2 needle which I use often as 1 needle I've been doing canopy and tarp repairs and fabrication and would like to learn more leather work,, holsters, horse tack, chaps motorcycle and horse SO IF I was to look at a machine for the heavier work which type would work best,,,or all around??? compromise?? and what is the best direction for the heavier threads and work 1/2 to 7/8 up to 1" ALSO thoughts of what other find a better choice for holster, and cases ??,easier to make ??odd shape things??? FLAT or CYL.. and why,,,, OH SO MANY QUESTIONS ?? David

  21. I use food grade or pharmaceutical grade pure mineral oil ,, because I have it on hand, but did my home work first,, re; oil,, singer calls 10wt non detergent or equal or singer oils if I recall, correctly I spoke with a couple machine service people also and got several opinions went to the basic's and found that mineral oil meets and exceeds published, specs for the machines I am around unless You need anti foaming qualities or cleaning or running 10k rpm ++2 stroke racing motors mineral should work just fine disclaimer,, IMHO, but works for me David ps also works great in hunter fans that require oil,, have a 8,, 25+ yr old fans in the barn that are on the mineral oil diet I just keep clean and change oil every other year
